Excellent within its limits
I bought this to cure exhaust putty and it did the job perfectly. To be clear this is overpriced if you can use any other heat gun. If like me however you need it where there are no wall sockets or in tight to reach places (under a car) then this is worth its weight in gold. Its not the hottest heat gun I've used but it is suffieicient for most things, and it heats up really quickly. For the exhaust repair I managed to keep heat on for about 5 minutes and still had one bar of battery left on a 4Ah. Whilst this wasnt enough to cure the putty completely it was enough to cure the outer layers and finish the job off by idling the car. in short, this heat gun is excellent for when you cant use a wall powered heat gun, and as long as you are aware of its limits.

Handy tool
I use this mostly for heat shrink and it works really well. It produces plenty of heat for this, even when used outside. Producing heat is a lot to ask of a battery, but this gives a reasonable running time, and anyway, most people have more than one battery eh? Just don't expect it to strip paint off your doors etc. Would recommend, very handy tool to have in your box.

Surprisingly good but eats batteries
Okay, so you don't realistically expect this to be as good as a high power mains heat gun for all use cases but as a compact and portable tool to apply heat for electrical work, it's ideal. I use it mainly for heatshrink work and it's perfect for that. The con, of course is that a battery providing up to 450 degrees of heat isn't going to do it for long - only the brushed Ryobi grinder chews through batteries more quickly. Have more than one Ryobi battery and be sensible in your expectations, and you'll find this a great tool.

Great tool for quick light jobs.
Rating for what it is: light use heat gun. It doesn't compare with heavy duty AC powered heat guns. I used it for heat shrinks and to post process PLA 3d prints. It works very well for these use cases. One of the included nozzles is perfect for heat shrinks. It reaches workable temperature very quickly. I did not use it for extended amount of time and I rotate batteries between tools, so can't tell anything about the run time or potential overheating, etc. I would recommend it to anybody using heat shrinks in the field - much more convenient than lighter (but obviously much heavier and larger) or fussing around with AC powered heat gun.

Need BIG 5.0Ah battery
Good heat gun but you do need a 5.0Ah battery as it does drain very quickly. Good for heat shrink work but not really good for anything that's going to take time. Unless you have a good few batteries!

Good for carrying in the campervan in cold climates

I Love It
Great as you'd expect from Ryobi, I use it to heat up nitro model car engines.
