Worked as it should. No faults or problems connecting and programming, good value for money.

I took a punt on this because it was half the price of other similar products. Although this is described as a Baofeng programming cable it works well with Retevis radios too. Unlike other reviews I didn't find this installed on windows 11 automatically and it was a bit of a faff trying to find out how to install the drivers for it. I do consider myself a "fairly" advanced pc user. There was another review that explained how they did it and I just followed that. Unless I was being stupid I couldn't find the driver on the mini cd that came with it. It was suggested in the other review to search for "CH340/CH341 USB to serial port windows driver" and that worked a treat for me. Overall once I'd got over the small issue of it not installing automatically on Win11 it worked really well with Chirp using 2 different radios - Retevis RA685 and Baofeng BF88x. Just make sure you turn the volume up on the radios as it was a bit of trial and error. The Baofeng needed to be half volume and the Retevis needed to be almost full volume to communicate with my PC. Overall very pleased that I could easily programme my Retevis RA685 with the frequencies allowed for a Simple UK License.

Great product. Works as described

Item arrived quickly and the cable and connectors are good quality. It was supplied with Baofeng software disc but the disc itself is the mini type so I went to download it from their website. The Baofeng software doesn’t seem to be available for Mac OS but CHIRP software works and easily read the walkie talkies for reprogramming.

Exactly as described. And a fraction of the price on other platforms. Works perfectly and good build quality.

An amateur wannabe with an interest here. Lots complaining the cable doesn’t work… I had issues but a little patience and perseverance (10 mins playing with chirp) to work it out and I was chucking frequencies on using a Mac without any bother. I think some people lack the minerals to overcome a simple challenge. Radios are not a plug and play commodity

The cable I had been using for years failed following a driver update, displaying the error message: "THIS IS NOT A PROLIFIC2303. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER." This issue arose because the market is inundated with counterfeit hardware. A driver update was released to prevent these clones from functioning. After purchasing another cable that also failed, I was hesitant to try again. However, I can confirm that this cable works correctly with the updated drivers on Windows 11, specifically with the Baofeng UV-5R and the UV-17. I hope this information is useful to those in a similar predicament.

Bought this so I can program my cheap and cheerful Baofeng BF888S walkie talkies. It worked a treat and they now use CTCSS on each channel. Used in conjunction with the free “Chirp” program.
