In case it helps anyone, I wanted to share that my episodes of itching/burning are related to food allergies. I'm allergic/intolerant to wheat, dairy, and eggs, and an indiscretion (such as last night's Strawberry Short Cake at a St. Patrick's party) will bring on the symptoms. I really wish someone had told me years ago. I don't think this is widely known in the medical field (although I could be mistaken), and I don't think there is anything that can be done, except Vagisil, and baths/sitz baths if they work. I'm assuming one needs an elimination diet to find out causes. I'm not a medical professional in any way, just someone who's figured some things out through trial and error.
