Can this fit a newborn?

I would say it depends on the size of the new born. 6 to 7 pound it will probably be ok. If the baby is 8 pounds and up, I think it woukd be way to small. I bought this for a reborn doll. My doll is around 4 to 5 pounds and it is a perfect fit.

How many inches tall is the top and bottom? (Separated)

The top part is about 11" long and the bottom part about 9".
