Nordic Ware Microwave Eggs 'n Muffin Breakfast Pan

The Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Cooker is well worth the $7 purchase price. My father now lives alone and we have been delivering meals because he has never felt comfortable using the stove. I initially decided to purchase this item for him, because it would allow him to cook his eggs in the microwave. I decided to also buy one for myself to keep at home, and it has turned out to be a big hit with my kids. If you have loved ones that may not be safe to use the stove, this allows them to make scrambled eggs or even "omelets" on their own simply and quickly using only a microwave. To use, you simply spray cooking spray in the bottom tray, crack an egg into the tray, stir the egg with a fork (like you would for scrambled eggs, add any toppings you desire, then close the lid and microwave for one minute. The eggs come out good and fluffy. I was concerned they would be rubbery, but that is not the case. My dad has felt comfortable using this egg cooker, and he now uses it almost every day to cook his morning egg. My kids are still just a little too young for me to allow to use the stove unsupervised, but they are allowed to use this whenever they want, and they frequently decide to make their own breakfast now that we have it. We have found that you can place a piece of Canadian bacon on top of your egg mixture once you stir it and then close it up and microwave it. The Canadian bacon gets warmed up at the same time the egg cooks, and it tastes great together. You can add onion, peppers, mushrooms, whatever you want, as long as you don't go too crazy. I usually add the cheese after it is cooked if we add any at all. Bottom line is this will cook a tasty egg for you in one minute in your microwave. It is dishwasher safe and elderly/kid friendly. I wish I had bought one of these a lot earlier than I did.

This product works very well overall, and I've already bought another for myself and another as a gift for my parents. It cooks an egg quickly and easily in the microwave, perfectly sized to sit on an English Muffin. Because it's plastic, it does get hot, but you can still handle it enough after cooking to make it easy to put your sandwich together. The fact that it is made in the USA by a family-run company is even better. If you follow the manufacturer's instructions, it makes a sort of mini-omelet scrambled egg patty. It's tasty, but I prefer a fried egg on my sandwich. You can do that too with it, carefully. First, break the egg into it. Second, I use a toothpick to thoroughly break the yoke and get it to spread-out a bit first. (I read online if you don't break the yoke when cooking in the microwave it will explode.) I then cook it for about 30 seconds on full power in a 1000w microwave, just until I hear the first pop. I stop it right after the pop, and I see how much it has cooked, then I start doing small bursts and checking frequently to see how firm it is. When it is almost cooked, I flip the egg and zap again for a few seconds. I then use a fork to probe and make sure I have no hidden liquid pockets. I then put my already cooked sausage on top, add some shredded cheddar cheese, and microwave for 10 - 15 seconds to heat that and melt the cheese. Put the contents on the English Muffin, and done! Quick and easy fried egg, and a lot easier for me to wash quickly. Some tips: 1. Coat the bottom with a touch of oil or cooking spray first. (I spritz the spray and use a paper towel to spread it around.) 2. Don't overcook or else the egg will explode or turn to "rubber." 3. Make sure you probe at the end to find any hidden liquid pockets! I read online about a woman who didn't, and she bit into a super hot liquid pocket that burned her lip badly. (I like a firm egg anyway.) I haven't had any issues after doing this. 4. A lower power microwave is likely better, or if you have a Panasonic Inverter microwave, use a lower power setting. (My parents have a Panasonic, and it works better.) An inverter microwave keeps the microwaves on the whole time, but can lower the intensity with the power setting. Regular microwaves do full power in bursts for a percentage of time based on the power setting. Using a lower power for longer on the inverter microwave works a bit better with less popping and splattering. My one complaint is that it doesn't latch closed. The reason I say that is if you aren't paying attention, and don't stop the microwave when it starts to really pop, the steam can push up the lid enough to splatter and make a mess in the microwave. The two halves easily snap apart at the hinge to make washing easier. Overall I am very happy with this. It does what the manufacturer claims, and lets me cook an egg in under 2 minutes in the microwave.

I bought this on a whim about seven years ago and at least one person in my large household has used it pretty much daily ever since. Alas, one of the hinge pieces broke when I accidentally dropped a cast iron skillet on it, so I've come back for another one. It's only now that I realize I never left a review for the first one, so here goes. This is an amazing little device. In just one minute, it transforms an egg or two, plus whatever add-ins you might want (veggies, meat, cheese - anything you can chop into pieces works great) into an egg scramble perfectly sized and shaped for an English muffin or a roll. It's fast, it's easy, and it makes for a really satisfying breakfast. Easy clean up, too. It didn't even occur to me to shop around for other options to replace it - I just wanted the exact same one.

I love the Nordicware Microwave Eggs 'n Muffin Breakfast Pan so much that this is actually my 2nd one. It's great to prepare a quick egg to eat solo or add to a breakfast "Sammich". It is already easy to clean, but I hit both sides of mine with a quick spray of canned olive oil. Just crack the egg drop it in add what you like, I myself use black pepper and salt, with a lil' ground up scotch Bonnet pepper for some heat. Scramble it up a bit, close the lid and pop it in your microwave. My microwave is 1000 watts and my eggs are good to go in 38sec. I try to open the lid right away to avoid a lot of shrinkage. Pop slide that egg right out of the pan, and onto a nice toasted bagel, top it with some sliced cheese, and some sliced ham and you got yourself a good cheap breakfast. These cooker is very durable. My original is well over 5 years old , and probably cooked as many eggs as McDonalds :) In my experience, you do have to be sure and scramble the egg. The packages always show a sunny side up egg in the container, but if you don't scramble them you might hear a big BOOM and have egg all over the microwave. At least that's what happened to me during my testing of different ways to cook the eggs. It might not have been so bad had I pierced the yolks. But all in all this is a great cooker. You just have to your microwaves sweet spot as far as time.

I am not a morning person so I bought this to use at the office. On Monday I bring eggs and english muffins and make my own low-cal mcmuffin a couple of mornings a week. Great for the weightwatchers point system. If I'm feeling gluttonous I add a slice of cheese for a few more points. I've had this for years now, use it constantly, and have never had a problem. I'm back because I want to buy one for home because they're just so easy to make (literally 1 min in the microwave) and its easy to get lazy at home. I found its also good to reheat things like sloppy joe in it (although it does stain so try an olive oil spray first). Keeps the mess inside, heats well, and its a quick hand wash so its ready to go again. Several friends at work saw what I was doing and now there's about 4 or 5 of these floating around the office. Everybody loves them.

I used this twice, followed directions, got good eggs. Washed the thing by hand and the hinge sprung and will not close now. It works, but the lid hangs open a bit. It's a great idea for fast breakfast but I need to buy another to get one with a proper lid. Nordic Ware is one of my favorite manufacturers, and it's not imported. Their line of metal baking pans is unique and interesting, with great quality. I was not paid to write this altho I wish I was!

I love this thing. I know I could just use a bowl to microwave my egg in, but it wouldn't be the perfect size and shape for an english muffin like this Nordic Ware pan makes. I've used my Corningware ramekins to make eggs in, but even with greasing the ramekin first, the egg sticks horribly to the ramekin - and the ramekin doesn't have a big enough diameter for the english muffin. Anyway, now you know why I bought this Nordic Ware pan, and I think it was a great purchase for me. I spray a bit of butter Pam in it, pour in an egg's worth of Egg Beaters, close the lid, put it in the microwave for 40 seconds, and it's done. Lifts right out with a fork, there's no egg stuck to the pan. I'll immediately pour in more Egg Beaters to make a second patty (don't need to spray with Pam again), as easy as the first. With a toasted english muffin, the egg patty this pan makes, a slice of Canadian bacon and American cheese, it makes a great breakfast sandwich. Easy and fast. Top-rack dishwasher safe, though it cleans up nicely with quick dot of soap and a swish of my dish brush as well. Very, very happy with this. We've been using it twice daily for 2 weeks now and it's working great.

Bought as a gift. I’ve had one for years and have loved using it. Light coat of oil, crack egg into it and stir. I cook it for 40 seconds and it’s perfect for a quick breakfast sandwich.

This is hands-down one of the two most used and most useful pieces of microwave cookware I have. Mine works precisely as advertised (there's a 1 minute video in the listing - just follow the instructions), is durable as one could ask, and probably the best value-for-money item I've ever bought. It might seem silly to praise so highly something that just cooks the humble egg. Thing is, it cooks it in 60 seconds, perfect texture, using it is drop-dead easy, cleans up fast and easily, and has survived the kitchenware insults that go with trying to cook being disabled. It will cook an egg to a size perfect for an english muffin, plain or with things added. At first, I couldn't see an easy way to get the cooked egg out - but - open the lid, put one half of the bun face down on the cooked egg, close the lid, flip cooker, open up, put on other half of bun, and lift out. No digging, no mess, no burns. In the instructions, it says to give the inside a light spray of cooking oil or brush on a touch of margarine. This is a no-miss step - the surface is not "non-stick". The instructions also say to stir up the egg a bit to prevent exploding egg. This too is necessary. If not done, about 20 seconds into cooking it sounds like small grenades going off. These are, however, minor things. The proof is in the eating, and the daily use. It cooks one egg, with a bit of bacon or cheese, perfectly in 1 minute, without fail. It is ridiculously easy to clean up. I see some users have experienced uncooked egg, or eggs too hard to get a nail through, or the lid breaking off. I've had none of these problems. Being down to one arm, this has hit the floor more than once. For many years, my chosen implement to do 1 or 2 eggs was a small cast iron pan. The Nordic Ware cooker takes 1/5 the time, has easier handling, easier cleanup, and my experience is that it does a great job of cooking that egg - if you follow the directions. This egg cooker was less than 1/2 the price of any similar one. It's not an import, and it's well made. In terms of value for money, judged by amount of use, results, and durability, this is an excellent and - if you're single and disabled - invaluable piece of cookware. I have several other good microwave cooking dishes, the red high quality, expensive ones, but this probably gets used more than any other piece. I wish I'd bought one years ago.

another piece of junk added to my cupboard. so so small can only cook one egg at a time, no room to fluff up if attempting to make scrambled egg - expensive mistake -

I have a few of these as everyone in the household finds it quick and easy to make breakfast using this. Easy to clean, Just put it in the dishwasher. Friends have seen me use it, and they have also ordered one for themselves. Well made. Not flimsy or cheap.

I have bought these things from my local grocery store for far less, but I couldn't find them anywhere when I needed more for some reason. Despite the price hike, this does work very well - it makes preparing breakfast in the morning much faster. It's easy to wash by hand and can also be cleaned in a dishwasher.

as soon as i received this in the mail i washed it and tried it out and the egg muffin tasted exactly like those ones you get at the golden arches but at a fraction of the cost. the only issue i had was that the hinges that connect the 2 halves together did not really hold to well and com apart easily, but the thing is the lid is only designed to sit on top lightly covering the egg to hold back a little steam to help cook the egg and making washing the unit a little easier. I would recommend this to anyone as well as the nordic ware 4 egg boiler which i have been using for years to great success.
