I bought this book for 4 reasons. 1. my vertigo 2. my age, to combat "getting old" being proactive 3. for my senior clients 4. my grandson has autism and has sensory issues with balance This book did NOT disappoint. Everything in it is based on the training I received from National Academy of Sports medicine "but" in such simple terms any everyday senior can absorb. The exercises they have are "real world" everyday tasks. As a trainer I focus on Functional more than fitness. By that I mean I teach my clients exercises that will help them lift and carry groceries vs how many burpees they can do. This book fits perfect with things that help you live your best life vs society's only cross fit people are fit narrative. I did cross fit, but most of the population will never do that. They still need to be healthy. This book will slowly and safely and without intrusive workouts do exactly THAT! Give you a stronger better body and life with simple things you do in your daily routine before you leave the house. Review: simple reading but great. - this book has some art showing you tip on balance. I feel it is a great gift for an older person, easy read and informative.

Too much reading
It's a book. A good book. But it's difficult to focus on but I will because the end results are worth the painful effort of reading a book

Fantastic book that ALL seniors should have on hand!
I'm 63 & have balance issues plus I'm. "deconditioned" per my doctor. We've gleaned a lot of useful--life changing--information from this book & plan to begin the entire program as described in the book. The reason for each exercise is explained & then described carefully. As you progress through the book you can see how each new exercise builds on the earlier exercises you've learned & continue if you follow through. I'm certain that it will be easy for anyone to follow and benefit from. I also believe that if I need a "refresher" I'll be able to easily locate the exercises needed to get back on track.

Excellent balance lessons
This book is a must-have for excellent balance. It has saved me and all of my friends everyday from falling. It is also strengthening as well. Loss of balance is a slow process but stopping it now is imperative as we age. The lessons are both graphic and written, and as you go through the short book, you build on each and every lesson. I highly recommended to everyone.

Too Easy for me
I found the exercises a bit too easy for me until about halfway through the book or more. There was a section at the end intended to help you practice falling the right way but I couldn't understand the directions. There was an illustration for each exercise. The exercises are meant to be done while you're doing everyday activities which is not what I want to do. A lot are intended to be done in the bathroom so there are exercises that have you put a foot up on the toilet seat for example. I tried one but wasn't completely comfortable doing it in the bathroom with the immovable objects and really hard surfaces (including the floor) so I don't think they're practical for someone who could easily fall. I prefer to steady myself with a sofa that's soft and in a room with a floor that's not so hard.

Excellent! Combine with isometric training
This book reveals how to get your balance back(!), how to keep your balance, and how to overcome your fear of falling. Practical ways of repositioning your body to enhance balance and better support your activities with comfort. Good for daily practice while doing other things. Good section on neurological balance exercises and a forthright section addressing fear of falling and falling practice. Use in Combination with: The Complete Book of Isometrics by Erin OโDriscoll

Buy it For Your Gran, Please!
I ordered this book because I suffer from arthritis and I'm beginning to stiffen up, especially in my hips. Getting on and off the tube train is a challenge as is getting out of a chair. Already, I'm delighted with the results. My 91-year old neighbour was so impressed that she's ordered it too, and it's fascinating to see her steady progress. The author is well qualified with 40 years solid, qualified experience behind her. What makes this book different is that there are no boring exercise routines, so you are not tempted to scive off, nor over-tired by doing too much. Each week you learn a little exercise that you can practise whilst doing something else - watching TV, washing up, etc. When you're in the bathroom you can use the loo (lid down) for a hip exercise. You can lean against the kitchen table while practising a balance exercise and waiting for the kettle to boil. With physiotherapy more or less reserved for the rich or the seriously injured, I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this book is life-changing. Suitable for those who want to improve their fitness, most especially balance and flexibility in old age. Buy it for your Gran, please!
