![Pride & Prejudice (DVD/BD) [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81iq9dcvu6L.jpg)

Oscar-winner Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and BAFTA-winner Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty) star in this definitive version of Pride & Prejudice – now fully restored from the original film negatives. The alluring tale of the forbidden love shared by the spirited Elizabeth Bennett and the distinguished Mr. Darcy is beautifully brought to life by award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’s Diary, House of Cards). Indulge in the beautifully remastered French edition of Jane Austen’s classic love story. Review: This Film Is Incredible and I Love It Even Better Now It Is Remastered! - Note: I have only seen the DVD version of this remaster, so if you want a review of the Blu-Ray you will have to look elsewhere. As to the technical end of these disks: This was nicely clarified in terms of details being made more visible on the screen and also the color is much more vibrant too. I felt in many places this is much, much better than my older disks I had from years prior to this remastering. They did a fine job with the technical end and I was glad they included subtitles (even if imperfect in my opinion) as my older disk did not have those so this is a GREAT improvement for the hearing impaired even if they don't totally match the exact dialogue with the dialogue in the performances. I find this annoying personally. I felt this production was very little short of amazing when it was made and even still today it has aged very gracefully. Austen was a gifted writer and this interpretation of her work is very, very beautifully done. I had not read her works before seeing this back in my teen years and after seeing this I had to read the book which this had been based on and, while different in some ways from the book, this miniseries was done very much in the spirit of the book. The casting was quite well chosen. The dialogue is written with great respect for the original and yet in some ways, this too is modernized just enough so most people could easily follow it and this was a good choice that they made. The music was very beautiful and expressive of the moods of the scenes. The costumes were well done, too. Now... So as to avoid spoilers I will say things this way: This is one of the greatest romances of all time and was written with sparkling wit, and yes, this is among the first of the rom-com type stories ever to have been penned at all and this is PART of why people today still read Austen's works and watch films like this over and over again. Austen was one of the first and oddly enough remains one of the greatest writers of this kind of story and this version of this work of hers shows a great amount of why this is. This story has a VERY clever heroine when such things were not often very common at all in any form of story at all at that time period AND ALSO the main character, Elizabeth, was not perfection incarnate which too is greatly unlike a lot of heroines in stories written at that time. Lizzy was not perfect in terms of her looks, she was not perfect at playing the piano and singing, she was smart enough to enjoy reading but did not feel this was all there was to life either, she was kind without being a total doormat and yet had self-knowledge enough to turn proposals down that would have been disastrous for her happiness even if this may leave her and possibly also her whole family virtually destitute upon her father's death. She was nicely flawed as well. Indeed, all the characters in this have clear flaws, yes, even JANE Bennett, had great flaws that inevitably caused them their major problems in various entertaining (and even possibly ruinous) ways which weave together and craft a great, witty, and very beautiful love story. The humor shines despite the centuries. The plot holds true even now. To watch this miniseries is in my opinion of the currently available options of the versions of this story a good choice indeed! In short? I recommend this miniseries. This version of the remaster is a good choice. I give it five stars! Review: Colin Firth is Perfect Mr. Darcy! - My Book Club had Pride and Prejudice as our Book to discuss in January. The version with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy is my favorite television-motion picture production. He is perfect! The only part I didn't like was the mother who overacted.

Great version of the classic
Great series that goes into more detail than the 2005 version. I really enjoyed this one although I love the 05 version as well. Colin Firth is a great Mr. Darcy. If you have not watched it I highly recommend it.

Endings are Fun!
With the news so awful I have taken to watching some of these films or series that are light, a bit romantic, well done, with happy endings. And let us not forget that they a made with attractive people staring in them......

Beautiful story
Almost as good as the book. There are characters you hate, characters you love, those you relate with, and those who annoy you to the core. I enjoyed this little series.
