Water Soluble Chalk Marking Pencils 4/Pkg. White & Silver

These babies are grrrreat for marking cuts on wet treated lumber...way better than regular pencil. Your eyes will thank you.

These pencils are my favorite for marking quilts. They don't work on every color, but the silver works great on light fabrics and the white works well on really dark fabrics. This is one of the very few pencils that I can really get out with just a damp cloth. Be careful not to iron over the marks, however, as that seems to make them much harder to get out. Because it's a color and water soluble pencil, it is rather soft and needs careful sharpening. I've found the best sharpener for this and all my color pencils is a hand-held where you can control the force of the blade. My favorite sharpener for color pencils is the Clover sharpener. It's made of metal and shaped like a thimble. Try not to get too fine a point on the end if you can manage - you want it just a little blunt at the point. A super-fine point will break right away and take much of the exposed "lead" with it.

Pencils make a clear, fairly narrow line on fabric. Easy to see on mid-to-dark fabric and grey pencil is good for light/white fabric. Pencil is made with actual chalk, which i love. Best pencils ever!

I am just getting into sewing and needed something simple. You need a pencil sharpener to sharpen to use, and the silver sometimes crumbles under pressure. Good for the price.

Beware, the silver is NOT water soluble and the white is impossible to sharpen. Very disappointed with this purchase. Do NOT recommend.

I do a lot of machine embroidery and have been trying to find something that is easily removable and can mark centers on dark fabric and felt. I have purchased other chalk but the one I bought is thick and the lines were always off center. I tried this and it has worked great! It marks felt easily and the line is thin so it is centers easily. The chalk comes off with light brushing with a toothbrush or dampening your finger or a cloth/towel and wiping.

The chalk breaks easily when using and breaks far down into the pencil causing a large chunk to fall out. You then have a lot of sharpening to do to get to the next part of the chalk to use. It's a waste of the product and a waste of your time. I'm making due, but I wouldn't buy this product again or recommend it to others.

I think folks that have points breaking off got some that were pre broken because I have never had that happen. Marks are sharp and clear and they always wash out. I agree that these are not chalk like at all. You do have to sharpen often to keep sharp but they've still lasted a long time.
