Great value, good quality and low price
It was great to see that this coil for my Mercruiser 5.7L actually had brass terminal posts. After the problems about inferior terminals on other manufactures coils, namely aluminum or some sort of pot metal, that were easily broken as they were tightened, this coil had stronger brass posts and even came with the nuts tightened and the lock washers compressed. That told me this coil had a good chance of being installed without breaking anything. With a two year warranty, what's to lose?

Good coil
A coil is a coil. This is supposed to be the recommended replacement, and works. It has a larger diameter than the original, so I had to expand the clamp which is not easy to get to. It seems well built and it is heavy. It works.

Worked for one day!
Installed this at the end of last season while winterizing Meecruiser 5.0. Started this season, ran great then went on the river. Got about 5 miles down the river and engine died. Would not restart. Had to get towed off the river. Diagnosed at marina as a bad coil. Should have went with factory parts. $400 lesson learned.

Works well
Had a Mercruiser 21 year old OEM coil the left me stranded at midnight. Replaced it when arrived--she fired right up (5.0L). Delivery was fast and looks identical to OEM. Doesn't come with extra nuts/washer, which I didn't need. Great price--ordering another as spare.
