It has a lot of power that can be dialed up or down. Best of all it has NO safety button or switch so you can use it seamlessly to pulse and push your food around — with one hand. What I did not realize was how big this thing is — much bigger than the regular sized plastic Braun I grew up with. This said, I was disappointed that the bottom part is too big to fit inside a mason jar. Heck, it's even too big to fit down into the bottom of the stainless cup they advertise as an add-on item. (Nice cup, just can't use it with this thing.) I use a 4 cup Pyrex glass pitcher to blend things up if they are not in a pot. This bigger foot does make it stable to stand on its own though. Now it takes a while to make a smooth smoothie, and it's not a Vitamix, but it's also under a hundred dollars. I don't mind a little texture to my drinks. This still works better than your average blender any day. Storing this is another issue. It stands well on its own, but it's too tall for under the cabinet unless you take it apart. I keep mine in a plastic bin where bags of alternative flours are kept. Best might be to make a mounting for it to hang on a wall. Oh, also, make sure it CLICKS when twisting the attachment onto the motor. It will work even when it's not truly locked in place, but it will come off a little too easily when you go to put it away. I used it the first few times that way. I was afraid to "force" it any further so that it aligned with the lock icon. Mine failed and food and liquid got behind the plate and became awful and unsanitary, possibly deadly. We were shocked to see the inside when we managed to detach the blade from the shaft. I could post pictures, but I can't see where I could here. The blender is more expensive then others and we thought we got the best blender on the market. Though a replacement of the gasket could be a short term easy fix, All Clad gave no option of such. All Clad electrical item warranties are only for 2 years, ours was 3 years old. Reading other review of this blending, my problem is not unique. Hence I'm looking for a different brand immersion blender. **Q: Bought product in april. noticed yesterday the soup i made was sucked up into the shaft. what am i doing wrong?** A: Nothing- this is a major flaw of this unit. I am currently waiting on all-clad to rectify.
