BTOOOM!, Vol. 1 (Volume 1) Review: Review of BTOOM! volumes 1-9 - I am always torn as to whether I should watch the anime or read the manga first. (When both are available.) What works for me is to watch the anime first. It's less expensive and I might only have to invest about 6 hours of my time to discover if it was worth it. And if I like the voices in the anime that's how I hear the characters. Then I'll read the manga to fill in the details that are frequently left out of the anime for time consideration. If I read the manga first I'm always thinking "Why did they leave out the part where..." in the anime. While there isn't a lot of 'fleshing out' in these books I still found it to be worth the purchase. (And you see a little of the people behind the 'game'.) The drawing is quite detailed. If you liked the anime I recommend this series. If you're on the fence as to which way to go, I would say buy the manga. The stories are more complete and you can enjoy them at your own pace. (The first season of the anime is covered in volumes 1-8.) Review: Unique Story - This manga references a life inside a video game but instead of the regular shooting style, they use bombs. The characters are then shipped off to an island where it's similar to the video game, they have to use the bombs to kill each other and the last standing wins. I can't wait to read more! In terms of the product, it came wrapped in plastic and when opened it was undamaged.

One of the best manga series I've read
One of the best manga series I've read. I read it online and just had to buy it after finding out the mangaka was ACTUALLY finishing it. I waited cuz i was dreading this to be like how the anime is...incomplete. But it's getting a ending and I'm so hyped. Can't wait to see how things play out. It's so exciting and actiony. It's amazing. The book came in wrapped, brand new. <3

I bought this book on a whim- I was bored, having re-read my Higurashi volumes so many times, I needed something new. And my God, I could not have chosen a better book. This book begins with Ryouta Sakamoto- 22, unemployed for 2 years and #10 worldwide and #1 in Japan in the virtual world of the online game BTOOOM!, a world which he has become addicted to, never leaving his room except for the natural to-and-fros of normal life. Then, all of a sudden, he wakes up hanging from a tree in a tropical forest- from a parachute. With no memory of recent events, our unfortunate nerd quickly realizes that he now has to play his favourite game, where he conquers all, in real life. Brilliant story premise, the main character is a fresh breath of air from all the shonen and Higurashi I've been reading, the art is beautiful, and the changes Ryota goes through on the island really leave you wondering: is he really willing to give up his moral code for survival? WARNING: NOT FOR THOSE UNDER 18!
