great heavy duty surf rod. handle is soft and easy to hold. for casting heavy weight for bottom fishing. really stiff. too heavy for casting jigs

Just bought another 4 to replace the ones that I bought 5 years ago. These are cheap but good rods for surf fishing. I have caught hundreds of fish on these from whiting , bull reds, sharks and big southern rays. I put penn 25n on these and cast 5.5,8oz weights and bait. They work well and not too expensive that you don't mind banging up. Speaking of banging up, the shipping was pretty bad, they came just in a plastic bag. In the past they would at least put them in a long box. Because of this terrible packaging every rod had some guide inserts that fell out. The inserts were luckily still in the bags the rods were shipped in so I was able to pop them back in.

I love the Look and Feel if this 11ft Long Spining Rod: Longitude. The attention to detail is Excellent. The Guides are Double-Footed for extra strength. The Cork Handle is Smooth and well placed. I will use this Rod Mostly for Surf Fishing. I have now Purchased "another 11ft Longitude" This Rod is too good to pass up. Get one. UPDATE: Second one arrived Damaged in Three places: Connecting Joint, bottom Pealing or chipped; Guide missing, First guide Secomd half, and Chipped Guide insert, Bottom pole. If Dicks Sporting Goods had this Pole, "It would save me a lot of hazels...ordering and returning." Shipping is the Root of the Cause for damages. I would love to get one without issues.

the pole arrived in a decent amount of time despite shipping late whoever shipped it threw it in a box with nothing to protect the pole except a plastic sleeve no bubble wrap or anything I'm a little disappointed that they would ship something this expensive with nothing to protect it that being said the pole is okay none of the eyes were damaged as for the pole itself I will update the review once I've had time to fish with it seems like a good pole flexible and sturdy enough for the type of fishing I'm looking to do with it the eye is angled slightly up at the tip of the rod which is a little unique to me I've never seen a rod like that I inspected it to make sure it wasn't damaged in shipping seems to be designed that way it's an attractive Pole I'm excited to take it out it breaks down in two pieces and is rather lightweight

Buyer beware if you are buying the 9 foot spinning model; it will not be what is listed on Okuma's site. Ordered the LC-S-902H-1 and Amazon shipped this quickly (although rods should be shipped in tubes, NOT rectangular boxes). Lucky it did not suffer damage. Rod quality seems good, although the specs for what I thought was buying are not what the actual rod shows. On Okuma's site (at the time of this writing) is that it is rated for 15-40 pound line and 1-4 oz lure weight rating. OK, that is what I wanted. What I got was rod with the same model # and 20-40 pound line rating and 3-6 oz lure rating listed on the blank. This rod also feels heavier than the 18oz weight listed (going to weight it on a scale to confirm). The action / taper is also faster. I recall handling this same blank at a local store and remember this rating to be true to what is currently shown on their site and not what is on this blank. Called Okuma to ask about the discrepancy with the ratings for this rod. The rep was very helpful and looked into it right away. He took the lot number off of the rod to bring to product development then called me back. Claim was that their site was incorrect and what is on the rod as I'm seeing is correct. Convenient for them but not helpful to me. I don't want this rod and now will have to pay 30-35 percent of the cost of the product to ship it back to amazon. Specs are replicated to many dealer sites so can't believe that I'm the first one finding this issue for the 9 footer. I have purchased several Okuma products and they are mostly good value. However, when this kind of stuff happens, your time and money are wasted. Okuma, if you are reading this, you lost a customer. I buy 2-3 rods and 2-3 reels a year and your name will not be on any I buy going forward.

I purchased this rod to use for casting crab snares. I'll may need to update this review after I have had a chance to use the rod. Since this rod is rated to cast 8 ounces, this should meet my needs. The long butt handle will make it easy for casting into the surf. Update (7/12/2024): When setting up the rig for the first time there were two obvious flaws with the rod I received. First, the aluminum oxide insert for the tip guide was totally missing. This leaves just a metal guide with a sharp edge that will fray and/or cut the line. Second, the guide insert on the largest guide was chipped. Since there were no loose pieces in the box when the rod arrived, I assume the rod was shipped with these flaws. This was marketed as a new rod; not a damaged rod.

I LOVE this rod. I use it for crab snaring and it's a beast. The rod is rated for 3-8 oz and can throw 3 ozs pretty far out but it ALSO has enough backbone that I was able to effectively cast 17oz of weight with it without fear of it snapping. It isn't the lightest rod, its a bit stiff, and the butt is very long but it is sturdy, dependable, and has a ton of backbone. It is a perfect rod for a beginning crabbing setup. I have it paired with a Penn battle 3 6000 and it feels pretty balanced. It would also pair nicely with an 8000 size reel for crabbing. I assume it would also be effective for heavy tackle surf fishing as well.

Muy comoda, se siente muy resistente y en verdad es muy ligera, no e tenido la oportunidad de sacar todo su potencial pero se que lo haría bien (saque una barracuda de 250 gramos como si nada)

La caña está bien para lo que cuesta, muy buen producto lo recomiendo para personas que van iniciando en la pesca.

Great rod for the price. Great finish, great tip action, and just what you need for getting your bait out past the breakers. Purchase the 12” conventional. Paired with either a Penn mag or ABU 6500.
