I called desertcart today and offered to return the remaining five fruit - I am sure they will get back to them still hard and unpalatable. They contacted the sellers and I am awaiting their response. They can send me good quality fruit or refund my money - I am okay with either. The box came wrapped in multiple plastic bags, and my mail carrier informed me that "the damn thing's leaking so they wrapped it up." Inquiring further, she "guesses it got dropped somewhere along the way." Looking beneath the box, a shallow puddle of fluid had pooled in the bottom of the innermost bag, and the cardboard on 3 sides was absolutely soaked. The box was so wet it literally crumbled apart in my hands as I opened it. I had ordered a few different items with this order, but it was the sapodillas that suffered most of the damage, covering the rest of my order's contents with sticky, syrupy juice and the sugary, malty smell these ripe fruit have. Despite the post office dropping and damaging the box and fruit, it should be noted that the few surviving fruit are awesome and the seller is spectacular. I have ordered other things from them a few times recently, and they continually send me extra fruit or throw in a freebie along with a hand-written note to show they appreciate my business. I know of no other seller that is this friendly or professional, and it always makes me feel special ordering from them. I also love that they send fruit in varying degrees of ripeness--some perfectly ripe to consume immediately, others unripe to enjoy later.
