Does not work for cd dvd drives.
Works for IDE hard drives, but not for IDE DVD drives. For optical drives, look for adapters in which the power connector is wired and not directly attached to the circuit board.

Works with NAS - Update - Not working with NAS
Update - I had to return these because they do not work with my NAS because they do not have a master / slave jumper. Apparently the jumper on this device is not for master / slave settings. If you need these jumpers then this won't work for you. If you do not need master / slave jumpers then this adapter works great, and I had no issues with the 4 I purchased. Original Review Below: I bought this because I have an old Venus T4U USB NAS with IDE connections, and the drives I want to put in it are SATA. I was concerned that the SATA to IDE adapter would not work with the NAS, but it works great. I only ordered one to test it out and I will be ordering three more to finish the project. The adapter has plastic covering the SATA connection side to protect from contacting metal and shorting it out. The only thing that dropped it down to a 4 star instead of 5 star is that there are no instructions. There is a jumper on the adapter and I have no idea what it is for? Recommended

Avoid this one.
This adapter CAN work, but under very limited circumstances. It has not Master/Slave/CS jumper (it has a jumper but the labeling is weird, it's not documented, and a LOT of digging reveals that this isn't its function), it apparently needs UDMA disabled so good luck on machines with barebone BIOS settings, and the build quality is horrible -- some of the pins were loose on mine and had to be resoldered. I've had issues getting Windows XP (specifically) to boot using this thing on era-appropriate computers. I think this thing messes up the drive geometry before the bootloader is fully working. Other IDE to SATA adapters work perfectly with the same SATA drive.

Probably Works but Too Soon To Tell
Technically, I have not been able to test this yet, but the application is as an adapter hooking into an ADATA SU800 512GB 2.5inch SSD to replace the HDD in an aged Apple iMac G3 333MHz Lime edition all-in-one. I replaced the PRAM battery and am in the process of sourcing the correct maximum SODIMM RAM the thing will unofficially accept and only then will I know whether or not this test worked. The success of these things seems to depend entirely on the quality of the adapter and I've already head success with it as a bridge between an old HDD and a Windows 98SE project computer. The best part of this specific kind of IDE-to-SATA adapter is the presence of a jumper to set it to master or slave.

Limited Usefulness Is Disappointing.
The Kingwin ADP-06 is always a MASTER IDE device and cannot be used to clone drives. It cannot be used to power a slave drive. It has no master/slave jumper. The jumper choice is IDE to SATA, or SATA to IDE. The original HDD is MASTER device and the new drive with the Kingwin adapter is also MASTER. You need a MASTER and SLAVE device to clone drives.

Orginal Xbox
It works with the orginal Xbox but if I tryed to use my dvd drive, I would get a error message. So if you only play games throw your HDD this item will be fine.

Moved Jumper
When I got this, it did not work with my SATA DVD-RW Optical Disk Drive in an older Windows XP computer. Even with just this one drive on the IDE ribbon cable. The drive I was replacing had it's jumper set to master and I had put the Bridge on the same connector on the ribbon as the IDE drive had been. All I got was the drive light flashing constantly and no response to the eject button. I moved the jumper on the bridge to the position shown in the photo on the web page (from C-A to A-B) and it worked fine. Hope my randomness helps.
