Red House Painter's 1996 alternative classic "Songs for a Blue Guitar" is back as a 2LP in the flip cover on vinyl. Popular with fans and critics, the album features some of Mark Kozelek's best songs as well as inspired cover versions of Paul McCartney, The Cars and Yes. Review: Great Album - This album really is a Mark Kozelek solo album and because of legal complications the album can be quite hard to get hold of. Hence why the album is only available from third part sellers. It is worth worth getting not just because it is a great album but it must be one of the best mastered albums I have heard. Review: A must have RHP album - Being a fairly new convert to the RHP, my first RHP album was Ocean Beach, and it remains my favourite - perhaps for that reason. Songs for a Blue Guitar was a more recent acquisition – I’ve only had it about two years... and it’s still growing on me. I love the haunting nature of much of Mark Kozeleks work, the way he can make you pine for something elusive or unknown. Many of his songs are simultaneously sad and yet uplifting. It’s the quality and tone of his voice I guess – and he does a great job of getting this across on this album. For me, the key tracks are Have You Forgotten, Songs for a Blue Guitar, All Mixed Up, Revelation Big Sur, Silly Love Songs, and Another Song for a Blue Guitar. Make Like Paper is obviously a favourite for many also (based on how the crowd reacted at the Islington gig in June 2005). Overall, I guess I rate this album nearly as highly as Ocean Beach - and it's up there next to the Sun Kil Moon (Ghosts of the Great Highway).

The cd is faulty
The cd is unpayable from track 8 onwards. There is a clear deep very small scratch on it

Red House Painters evolved into Sun Kil Moon, another vehicle for Mark Kozelek`s unique and distinctive approach to music. Like most RHP disc`s there is a mixture of originals and covers - to me it`s the covers where Kozelek`s talent really shines. No artist can turn Silly Love Song, by Paul McCartney into a Neil Young inspired 10 minute distorted dirge the way he does. Or take The Cars` All Mixed Up and turn it into a heavenly mix of Leonard Cohen meets Sarah Mclaughlin by way of David Crosby and turn a pop song into ethereal folk music. Songs for a Blue Guitar is credited as RHP but was apparently a solo Kozelek project - RHP would release one more record, Old Ramone, and then dissolve.....this is a must for any slowcore/sadcore music fan

Seems that some new, old stock has hit the marketplace and I couldn’t be happier! This album has been on my waitlist for quite a while but wasn’t ready to drop almost $100 on Discogs for a used/vintage copy. Just received this today and it was sealed as new and in perfect condition. Songs are beautiful and a welcome evolution of the RHP sound from their first couple albums. Pick this up if you’ve been holding out and if you can get it for under $50, it’s an even better deal.

Für mich ein tolles Album, mehr gibt es dazu nicht zu sagen.

Tout commence avec cet album La renaissance, le goût des autres, la mélancolie comme guide salvateur !
