I think of him as the Bob Ross of electronics. His series of books are incredibly detailed but simple enough that you don't need a math degree to understand. He gives you enough information to get you going in a well compiled, easy to follow way. Combine Forrest Mims with The Art of Electronics and you can teach yourself a great deal about circuitry. I believe this volume should come later in the mini series but if you are buying out of order, it doesn't matter. This is a great way to get a few ideas for working circuits. I especially recommend this for teenagers or even kids interested in Electronics. Review: Would be great for an enthusiastic kid - This would be a fantastic book for someone in their early or mid teens. I bought the opamp/timer book and loved how it didn't beat around the bush. It told you what you needed to know and showed you how to build it. I decided to buy the other three and wasn't impressed by their content. Of course I'm also an adult with an engineering degree. The other book just weren't the same...

it's a true mind teaser for all electronics buff's who enjoy building small projects. I use it to help me NOT forget my electronics background, and the projects all work incredibly well; I just love all of Forrest M. Mims lll small booklets.

Great series and concise treatments
Ordered the entire series of four from amazon and wasn't disappointed. Great engineering reference with practical examples! Great desk reference! Clear writing and good prose.
