They definitely worked for poached eggs. I also had a problem where they would tip over in the water. Not bad for the price and for the weekend i needed them for, they worked great. These egg cookers were very easy to use. I had no issues with them tipping over, I removed the cookers from the pot with tongs, it didn't half a minute and they were comfortable to pick up with my hands. I used a plastic knife to easily loosen the egg and it slipped right out of the cup with no issues. I do recommend Hand washing even though they are dishwasher safe they are very light and will get tossed around the washer if not restrained.
