Review: Still good books! They didn't get "tired" through the progression of the series. - I'm just going to talk about the series, not this individual book, because they're all good and can't really write a detailed review without throwing in spoilers, so....."The Keeper of the Lost Cities" books are really fun to read. There's magic, intrigue, suspense and a little romance but it's not the focus of the plot and it's clean enough for grade school children if they are interested in the series. The books are fun but surprisingly substantive, model good behavior/relationships (without bashing you over the head with it or just being so painfully obvious that you find yourself rolling your eyes or skipping a few lines ahead) and can give you something to talk about with your kids. If you don't have kids then these books are just fun to read for yourself! The series is more low key (less violent/high stakes) than ""The Beyonders" but kind of feels the same way to read for me. If you liked The Beyonders, Harry Potter or some of the Tamora Pierce books- I'd say it feels most like "The Immortals" series, which was my favorite- then you'll probably like this too. I read a few reviews somewhere that said they thought it was copying Harry Potter and not being very original about it...I really do not agree. The material feels very fresh and original. There's obviously some overlap in any kind of fantasy but I'm pretty quick to feel that books are tedious/unoriginal (yet still read them...all) but I really just didn't get that feeling with these. I've read them more than once, which for me is 'the sign' that something was really worth reading the first time!
Review: Middle School Fantasy - I was on the sixth book and was repeatedly renewing it from my local library and eventually I decided to just buy a copy of my own. The book was received in excellent condition and while I'm not finished reading this hefty tome (it's north of 800 pages after all!) I enjoy the story well enough to keep me interested in the characters it's not mindblowingly profound or as sketch out with worldbuilding as some fantasy novels are, but this series is definitely driven by characters and character interactions more than the story itself- which isn't egregious by any means. If you like teen drama gilded in fantasy overlay chances are you will find this series appealing, though being the sixth book you would already know that. With all of that being said I do feel that as of the sixth book the plot should have developed more than what we're getting I don't know when this series will end but I know there are 2 or 3 or possibly 4 more titles to this series; I find that a bit too unnecessarily drawn out considering we have learn so very little about the Neverseen and the Ogers, but mainly the Neverseen. Without point-of-view chapters from the villains of the story and with them seldomly appearing betwixt novels it's difficult to sew them as fluid living persons. I feel as though all the really important plot points could be condensed to 3 books instead of 6 I think this series could have ended with the 6th or 7th book. Nevertheless, I'm hooked on this series and while I have taken several hiatuses betwixt reads I will always come back eager to see what Sophie and Keefe are up to. I say them specifically because that's who this entire story revolves around they are the most developed interesting characters in the series by far. I do also like Grady but again he's a character seldom seen at any length to see his character in action. I do greatly recommend this read to anyone keen to youth-teen fiction especially elementary to pre-teens.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great! But, mine must've had a printing error.
*by A***R on July 30, 2025*

Love this book! I'm actually only 3/4's the way through, but that does not change the fact that I love the series. Don't get me wrong- I love the book. But I think the printer that printed mine got a little confused, because so far 2 of the chapters in this book alone got weird. There would be one chapter (in this case, let's call it Chapter 42), where it would give me the first page, but got cut off. The next page would be weird, because it must be part of a different chapter, but in Chapter 42. Then you would turn the page, and it would start Chapter 42 again, but this time complete. No sign of the weird stuff that was in the first Chapter 42. I thought it was weird, but I kept going. Eventually, I got to another Chapter (Let's call it chapter 68). It had almost the same thing, but weirder. It would start out as chapter 68 but got cut off and resumed a different part of the book. Then I turned the page, and it started chapter 68 again. This second Chapter 68 started out with something that was super weird. It didn't start chapter 68 like the first one did, but it started a different chapter where we learn the name of the escaped prisoner. If you could look more into this, Amazon, that would be helpful. I'm assuming this was just a quirk of my copy here, but if it got into others, this is definitely something going on. The page numbers are all in order, and I don't know how that works. All in all, great book, and I can't wait to see the rest! Sorry for such a lengthy report but thank you for reading! Parents, if you're getting this for your kid, they will love it, especially if they're a fan of Harry Potter. I'm 13, and I highly recommend this for just about anyone. If you're a fan of complex relationships and mysteries + very, very slight spookiness, this is the book for you! (Sorry, I don't have any proof of this! I hope you understand.)
