Can the wound get wet with the gel and the thin sterile dressing on? If not, what can we apply to cover the area while bathing?

The gel is to keep the wound Moist .The wound can get wet it should be clean daily and the gel reply and covered.

Do you use this gel under Duoderm Extra Thin Sterile Dressing ?

Yes. It works great on open wounds. I put the gel on and cover the wound with the duoderm dressing and repeat the process every 4 days. Works great in completely healing the wound.

The insert says: DuoDrm Gel is a sterile gel composed of natural hydrocolloids (pectin, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) in a clear, viscous vehicle.

Is this good for boil before and after they start to drain???

I can't address how it would be for a boil. Sorry. It did absolutely nothing for a wound on the bottom of my left foot. It formed in January (2015) and I still have it (July 2015). Somebody else might have better luck for something where their weight is not on it. I continue to use a prescription antibiotic ointment everyday and keep it covered. I've also been on two rounds of antibiotics earlier this year. If I were you, ask your doctor or your wound care enter if they approve this product for your situation. If you are diabetic (as I am), take extra care with your issue. If my review didn't say so, I did ask my doctor about this product before I actually used it. He told me that it is a known product used in wound care centers. Again; though, it sure didn't do anything for me.
