Campbell Hausfeld 3-in-1 Tire Inflator with 2-Inch Gauge, MP600000AV

I own a compressor for woodworking and kept thinking it would be nice to be able to use the compressor to top off the pressure in my tires. Prior to this I typically would fill my tires at the gas station or have it checked during oil changes or other such servicing of my vehicle. I was hoping to find something that had both a pressure gauge and a trigger mechanism for filling the tire. My search at local stores was not very fruitful as anything I found was either just a simple adapter with no trigger and gauge or was incredibly expensive if I found the features I wanted. I found several such items on Amazon and finally settled on this one due to its price. I picked this up for $12 recently. The unit feels very solidly built. It comes with a threaded connector so you have to pick up your own adapter for quick release air connections. After putting on a little plumbers tape and snugging down the adapter I took this out to the garage and plugged it in. At 100 PSI on the compressor output there were no leaks from either the connector or from the unit itself. I'll probably operate it at lower pressures than that, but it's a good first test. When I connected it to the schrader stems on my tires it clamped on snugly and gave a good seal. The pressure gauge quickly popped up with the current pressure and it seemed pretty accurate compared to what my other pressure gauge said. The trigger mechanism worked easily enough and filled up the tire. The pressure release button also worked well. All in all I'm very happy with this, it's definitely worth the investment for the price point I picked it up at. Because I have this now I'll probably be checking and maintaining my tire pressure a lot more frequently now.

Have seen a lot of griping and complaining reviews of this product....frankly, seems most of them are operator error issues, I love the thing and it worked perfectly. I check the air of my cars every month...especially when the weather changes from summer to fall/winter. I live in Arizona, so the difference in ambient temperatures are dramatic, and change the "idle" pressures in the tires by 3-5 lbs, so I do this enough to want an easy, and handy method of performing the task. The connection to the tire stem is a bit different than I was use to, but only took 2-3 times of trying to "get it" and loved the fact that it freed up a hand because I no longer need to push in and hold the outlet to the stem. The gauge performed perfectly and accurately...and the air release button did it's job flawlessly. The bonus aspect of this thing is that I no longer need a separate hose to perform my blowing out dusty filters or clean out the dust from my computer...this acts as a pass thru blower when not attached to the tires...good deal. Yes, this is not a professional grade device, and if you are filling a bunch of tires everyday, the latching mechanism will probably not hold up under heavy use....but if you're like me and only do this job once a month...this nifty little thing will give you many years of good use.

A nice combo inflator & gauge for my air compressor. Pretty convenient to use, although you have to be careful to not push the inflator clamping lever (the silver lever on top of the brass hose connector) too far, because each and every time I did that, the metal sliding clamp fell out of the connector. The clamp is not physically connected to the lever, just has a slot which a tab on the end of the lever sticks through. The clamp slides on a groove in the brass connector when you want to clamp it on the valve stem, but the lever moves too far and thus the clamp can easily pop out of the groove and usually bounces underneath the car :P. Of course it is easy - too easy - to replace in its slot, but the design could be improved considerably here. Also, there must be an airflow restriction in the inflator, because even at 80 PSI from the compressor, it takes a long time to fill a tire from 28 PSI to 35 (which is what I like, for the improved gas mileage). A better design would be for the pressure lever to have two stages - depressing it a first step to slowly inflate, and a second, greater amount for rapid inflation. However, the gauge seems accurate - wish I had gotten one with 0 - 60PSI as the gauge itself is small and thus the 0 - 100PSI scale makes it a bit of a squint to determine where 35PSI is. And it has the rubber flange covering, which should protect it if you should drop it, but the natural tendency is to hold the inflator by the handle, not the gauge. Anyway, after setting the tire to 35PSI I checked it with two other gauges and they all agree within one PSI, so that is the main reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 3. You probably don't want your kid using this as he (or she) will likely lose the sliding clamp piece right off the bat, and probably underinflate the tire due to not wanting to wait several minutes per tire.

I bought this because I have trouble getting a good seal on my dual RV back tires valve stem. I have not yet tried it but I think this will work. I have a Sears tire inflator and the chuck's mechanism for making a good seal on the valve stem is the opposite of this inflator. I have clearance problems when I try to use the Sears tire inflator on my dual back tires. I will give this 4 stars. After I tested this on my dual back tires I will revise the rating. I tested this inflator on my car tires. I am glad I bought this. I found out that my other tire inflator with it's built in gauge was under inflating my tires about 6 psi. The chuck has a good and tight seal on the valve stem. I will give this product 5 stars. The built in spring loaded chuck lock is very simple to use. Press on the lock insert the chuck as far as it goes on the valve stem, release the lock and you have an air tight seal on tire's valve stem. I also like the inflation trigger, one can gradually adjust the tire inflation to it's recommended psi. I tried this on my RV with difficult to access valve stems on the back dual tires. It turns out it could not get a good seal on the valve stem. It seems to me the valve stem on my RV is longer than the hole or the chuck lock could not lock on the valve stem. For my cars it works well. I think the gauge works well. I have the pencil type gauge,which I think is not accurate. As soon as the chuck is tight on the valve stem the tire's inflation psi shows on the gauge. One can then inflate using the inflation trigger or deflate if necessary using the release valve on the handle. Price is good. .

It has all the right features, but lacks in execution. First stumbling block was that it comes without the hose connector, just the ntp threads to attach one. Not a huge deal and obvious from the picture, but I somehow missed that. Second part is that the lock on the inflator attachment is not very robust, sometimes it locks some times it just leaks I could not find a good technique to get a consistent engagement every time. Also the gauge is off it shows about 1-2 psi too high. I've compared it to a digital gauge, a calibrated gauge and a car internal gauge. Three methods showed within 1 psi, this gauge showed at least one psi higher than all the rest. Having said all that.... I would probably buy again and recommend this to others. Once you attach and lock the hose properly and know to compensate for the gauge the tire inflation becomes a breeze. Even with all the struggles this is still the fastest way to set the tire pressure.

I wish I'd paid more attention to the negative reviews before wasting money on this thing. Although it looks nice out of the packaging, it's all a facade. The problem with mine is in the part that connects to the tire stem. It's designed to shut off the flow of air unless it's pressed onto the tire. Leaving aside the fact that this is not necessary (who cares if air free-flows from the hose when it's not attached to a tire and you press the trigger) the nozzles seals up unless something presses in on it. My guess is the theory of how this is supposed to work is the little pin inside the tire stem pushes in on the inside of the nozzle to open it and allow airflow. But unless your tire already has some significant pressure or the stem pin has a pretty strong spring, it won't be able to push in the valve in this tool hard enough to allow air to flow. So when you pull the trigger, there a very brief spurt of air which pressurizes the red hose and seals the brass connector on the end. Now no air flows and your tool is locked up. You have release the trigger and stick a pen or toothpick into this tool to push back the valve and purge the red hose and start again only to have it close up again the moment you pull the trigger. I don't know what's wrong with the world these days. Everything is a facade of quality over guts of junk in order to squeeze the most optimal, maximal, last fraction of a penny profit from every last sale at any cost and nevermind if it harms the customer. The worst of it is that I would happily pay five times the cost of this tool for something of quality but it just isn't available. We're all reduced to the least common denominator and most of it, like this tool, comes from China. This thing is going back to Amazon. It's way too much trouble to send back given the price, but if people don't ding Amazon, they're going to continue to sell junk that is easier to take from the packaging to the trashcan than to send it back. So I'm taking whatever steps and time are required to return it.

If you read the reviews- lots of people complain about the tire chuck not working properly. When my unit came- I had the same problem on my 2014 car. I couldn't push the tire chuck down far enough onto the tire's valve stem to engage the pin valve to let air into the tire. Tried on my other two cars... didn't work on them either. I was ready to send the unit back for a refund- when I noticed you could take the tire chuck apart, so with nothing to loose I disassembled it by simply unscrewing the clip-on piece from the threaded hose end. Inside the chuck was only one part... a 3/16" thick soft white silicone washer that was responsible for sealing the chuck to the valve stem while filling the tire. It was also the part that was preventing the chuck from fully sitting down far enough on the tire's valve stem to push open the tire's pin valve. So, I used a utility knife and shaved about 1/16" off the washer so instead of being 3/16" thick, now it was 1/8" thick. I put the modified washer (with cut side sitting against the brass chuck base not outward towards the tire valve- for better sealing), screwed the chuck back onto the threaded hose end and gave it a try out on my car. Well, now the chuck clipped onto the valve stem very securely and instantly/correctly operated the tire's pin valve showing me the tire's pressure and allowing me to fill it to the correct pressure with just one hand. So a two min fix with a utility knife/razor blade fixes the tire chuck problem... permanently! As to the accuracy of the built in gauge... it exactly matched my Joe's Racing Garage (known for their accuracy) analog gauge... both showed my tires at 37PSI. I filled them up to 40 PSI and both gauges agreed once again. If you fix the chuck, this inflator's a steal because it's all metal and good quality.. if you don't... it's worthless.

Quite possibly the best tire inflator I've ever used. The straight fitting on the hose end is VERY easy to use and much more convenient than the press-on-and-hold type or the push-on-and-throw-the-lever kind. You just push it on with very little resistance and let go of the lever. It holds itself on. This won't work on a SMOOTH valve stem but how often do you see that? The gauge has the right scale and is easy enough to read. I like that it's a dial gauge rather than numbers. The vent button is easy to use and in a good spot. The trigger allows for smooth, easy operation. You don't ever need to strain to press any control and they don't get stuck. It's easy to quickly and accurately get the pressure you want. The scale on the gauge is appropriate for tire use, unlike some where the scale goes up to 500 psi making 30 almost impossible to read accurately. This scale is 150psi, perfect for tires. Finally, the best part I discovered is that the gauge works all by itself without any hose or attachment. This means if all you want to do is check pressure you don't have to haul the entire hose and compressor around with you! You can check and bleed off air with just the inflator. And the price? This thing is WAY better than junk that's going for several times the price!

I first bought a different chinese brand on Amazon and it works great ! Then my father saw it and asked if I could order one for him but instead, I gave him the chinese one and bought this Campbell Hausfeld for myself thinking it will be as good, if not better than the other... but I was wrong. It gets the job done, but it leaks when connected to the tire valve so you always need to hold it. Also, the exhaust valve is pretty slow so when you need to lower the tire pressure, it takes longer. I saw other coments saying it looked different than the photo, mine looks exactly the same, and the accuracy of the gauge is good.

This is very easy to use, and is well made!
