The aeries of Madeline. I was looking for the one where she gets a little dog and surgery. Not the Christmas story.

Perfect for Classroom
Ordered this to read to my classroom during our Christmas Around the World event. My classroom was France, so I introduced Madeline.

Fits with the series (weird but enjoyable)
All of the Madeline stories are a little weird. It's what you get with these books. With that said, my daughter still enjoys them which is all that matters. But yes, this one is about a magician and magic carpets.
