I experience similar where I clench my jaw and is largely uncomfortable most of the time. As a result, my neck is straightening. This contraption helps because the result is mimicking whiplash. So, in my opinion/my mentor's opinion yes this should help whatever you are experiencing without aggravating your jaw. It's not meant prolonged usage either, nothing over 13 minutes or something. Just don't pull the chinstrap too tight and read the instructions.
