All about reading level 1 is a reading curriculum aimed at homeschoolers. This listing is for the teachers manual of the level 1 (there are 5 levels when you include the pre-reading). I am currently in the last couple of lessons of the level 1 with my son. Their website has placement tests to determine where your child would need to start. This level starts out teaching kids simple words like Sam and ends with children able to read words like hilltop, shrunk and swishes.The lessons may take one day or a week - it depends on the child and it is perfectly normal. I like that the authors have a blog and constantly update the information for the public on how to use the program and how to fix common problems like guessing at words, common In children who learn to read by sight.This is only the teacher's manual. To implement the program you need the student manual AND the teachers manual at a bare minimum. Level 1 also includes three readers. These are really good for practice and the stories have words that match the lessons. In my opinion they are an excellent addition to the program but you could buy them slowly over time if you don't buy the bundle. In addition the program includes letter tiles, word cards and phonogram cards. If you have a tight budget, you can make do without letter tiles or word/phonogram cards because you could make them yourself or write things out for your child in a white board.This curriculum is very easy to use. Literally open and go. Some days there's some cutting and stapling, but the child can be involved in this. The program integrates a lot of practice and fluency pages with mixed review. This is what I found most useful about the program. Other pograms simply do not offer nearly as much practice and you have to scramble to find it yourself which is not easy as most readers have sight words the child may or may not know yet. Here all the needed practice is included, particularly when you have the readers.This program does not include handwriting. You could have your child copy words though - but this is completely optional.Make sure you check out the website from the makers of this curriculum and ebay to make sure the prices here are better than those there.
