What kind of wood is it

The barn door hardware kit is made of metal. Because I was installing it into drywall instead of concrete, & not all of the screw holes lined up with a stud, I just installed a piece of standard pine construction wood (3/4” or 1” x 3” or 4”) over the wall & attached the metal hardware kit to that. This allows you to attach the wood to as many studs as possible & use the strength of the wood and the studs to support the door. The kit comes with instructions for installation to concrete or drywall. The drywall instructions say to use wood as I’ve described. If I’d had the money, I would have shopped por a piece of aged wood to use to add essence.

How do I detemine how tall to make my doors? I do not have room to move the track up and down; it has to go at an exact position above door opening.

If doors are too tal you will have to cut the doors.

What are the actual dimensions of the door in height and width? I have a 54" opening to cover.

There is no door. This is the hardware to hang your own door. It’s 5ft long. You would want hardware twice the size of your door. So this would be too small for you. For 54” you would probably want two doors. This hardware kit is just for one door.
