For the seller: Have you looked at long-term effects on the aluminium materials from the acids that result from burning wood and charcoal?

Accepted Answer

Sure.  As devout outdoorsmen and responsible engineers, we are continuously testing and using information from ongoing tests since the 1970's.  Aluminum Outdoor Pans and Coffee pots have been tested and used over fires for decades.  As an added protection we have anodized our ember guards that adds another level of protection from all the elements, including fire.  Please consider, our patented design provides so much airflow that the aluminum does not even close to its melting point.  Another design advantage is the Fire is actually sitting on a special Stainless Steel alloy mesh, which has a much higher resistance to acids resulting from the burning of wood and charcoal. How tall is the lip around the firepan when it's assembled?

The “lip” or Ember Guard as we call them are 3.75” tall.  The USFS and BLM Fire pan only requires 3” to be fire pan compliant.  Thanks for your question

Max temperature rating of this?

Accepted Answer

We have measured temperatures over2000F on the Fire mesh.  The Temperature Gun we use tops out at 2024F.  We have tested in several conditions including low and high elevation, low and high humidity and several types of hard and soft woods.  Our measured fires in the Pop-Up Pit generally burn hotter in lower elevations with lower humidity.  Oak and Ironwood have been the two highest temperature fuel. Can I buy an extra fire mesh to double up the strength and prevent holes?

Yes, you can buy an extra fire mesh (HERE https://firesideoutdoor.com/collections/24-pop-up-fire-pit-replacement-parts), but you shouldn't need to double up.  Their fire mesh is rated to hold up to 125 lbs.  So, as long as you stick to a small to medium sized logs (as shown in the pictures) you should be just fine.  My friends and I were highly impressed with the Pop-Up Pit and I think you will be too.
