You can use it for prewash and main wash (see dishwasher manual). Pods have pretty colors for disolved oil suspension, but have same chemicals as powder. Liquid is weakest due to some chemicals not mixing well when in water, and liquid is, mostly, just powder and water blended for easier use. Powder will get you 2-3 times as many washes per container, it lets you adjust your soap if you have hard water (hard water needs more soap). So, it goes Powder, Pod, Liquid.
