I also own a 9mm XD9 personal protection weapon. I'm not a avid gun range person but enjoy practicing at the range five to ten times per year and being safe with weapons. My primary concern, purchasing the Millet Red Dot Scope, was my ability to assemble the scope to my Ruger Mark III without any assistance. I have never even cleaned my Springfield X-D9 or any weapon I have owned, because of the fear of not being able to reassemble. I reviewed many U-Tube presentations on the Millet Red Dot and researched the internet for reviews on the Millet Red Dot ScopeRD00906 1 X 24 30 mm Tube Dot Rings Included Sunshade (Silver). This Red Dot Scope was Highly Recommended by many sites (Gold Plus Rating). I went to my local hardware store ,because I do not own many tools and purchased Toolbasin 6 piece precision screwdriver set ($4.99) tools small enough to remove the pre-drilled screws on the Ruger Mark III and to assemble the scope rail, that came with the gun. #1) I removed the pre-drilled screws from Ruger Mark III Hunter #2) Screwed in the rail mount that came with the Ruger Mark III Hunter using the screws provided #3) Using the Allen Wrench unscrewed the Ring Mounts and placed on the Millet Red Dot Scope #4) tighten the top screws with Allen Wrench#5) Loosened the bottom screws and place ring on the Ruger Manufactor Rail Mount 6.) Then tightened all Allen Wrength Screws. The Millet Red Dot Scope performed excellent at the firing range but the Ruger Rail Mount Screws lossened and Millet Red Dot Scope was flopping around. I originally Placed the first ring on the number two slot on the Ruger Rail Mount and found that might have created some tension on the rail mount, scope, when firing pistol,from shells ejecting and possibly loosened screws on the rail mount. When I got home from firing range, I took the scope off from the Ruger Rail Mount, tightened the screws on the rail mount then assembled the scope as above, but placed on the number one slot on the Ruger Rail Mount. I have not returned to the range to see if using the number slot solves the problem of the loosened screws on the Ruger Rail Mount. However, I'm very confident, that I can solve the loose screw issue. Might have been my technique of assembly also. The main emphasis of this recommendation, is not to be intimidated by the mounting of this Millet Red Dot Scope. It took me approximately 20 minutes to assemble and I'm not a technology person. I can not wait to return to the firing range to test and make adjustments on the Millet Red Dot Scope. Turn on and off by the 0 to 11 illumination. Excellent Product, its amazing what you can find on U-Tube if you take the time. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Nice scope, but had no luck with the quality. *by B***L on Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2015* I have had 4 of these over the past 5 years and all 4 have failed prematurely. I am mounting them on a Ruger MK II .22 pistol. The first one the knob on top loosened up. The 2nd one did the same thing a year later. The 3rd one started turning itself off and then back on when I was shooting, the battery cap was on tight. Brutal when shooting competitively. The 4th one worked well for two weeks. On the 3rd week at pistol league the pistol suddenly started shooting 5" low. Verified this on a sand bag. I sighted it back in again and made sure everything was snug, and it worked fine for 1 week, then the following week it started shooting 3-4" high. Verified on a sand bag that it was off again. I really liked the scope, wish I hadn't had all the problems. The 3 MOA is great for shooting at NHR targets at 50ft. I finally purchased a basic Millet 5 MOA scope (non adjustable dot size) and so far so good. Their scopes come with a 2-year warranty, but you have to pay to ship it to them, and include a check for $10.00 for shipping the replacement back. My guns all have Ultradot red dots. Ultradot is very popular, but I like Millet, so I thought this was worth a try. The multisize dots are a great feature. I like to see a sight picture that shows a ring of the black around the edge of the red dot. The small 1 or 2 MOA are not for me. I put the sight on a Hammerli .22 match pistol. The sight has worked well for about a year.
