However I can use thick socks. That's better than being too narrow or too small. The leather at the top of the boot is doubled and filled. This rubs against my legs and pulls the hairs on my legs. Finding a boot online or in a store for him is difficult because he has wide flat feet. I purchased this boot in the 11M and the 10.5M hoping one would fit. The 10.5M fit my son as if it were a 10.5 Wide which is one of his normal sizes he wears as well as a 11M. My son's foot measures 11" long and 4-1/2" wide. They are not insulated so will need wool socks this winter in Connecticut. The boots are light weight with no steel toe. They are a really detailed nice looking boot but I can't say how it will hold up as my son is a mechanic in a shop with oils, grease etc...but I could see his socks showing threw his other boots so he needed boots quickly. I took a chance on these boots without any reviews and the boots were a reasonable price. I did try on the boot myself and notice that the footbed is flat and slopes back toward the heel and my husband said the same thing (not much cusioning or support) There is no arch support and not much of insole so I purchased a pair of Dr. Scholls work boot innersoles from Amazon and gave those to my son to use with these boots. Can't comment if they really are waterproof yet. I deducted one star for lack of footbed support and no cushion/no arch support. Lastly, the boots came in a box and each boot has it's own material boot cover and extra shoe laces and yes the shoe laces were long enough. Nice touch !!! Just gave them to my son 2 days ago. As soon as he tried these on they were the ones. He hasn't worn them to work yet. He's still wearing the old boots with the holes???
