Also not good for small, crafty, obnoxious dogs. Also not good for lazy teenagers who refuse to lift their legs to step over it as it does not stay attached to the wall when any force is applied. However, it is made out of a very strong mesh material and is extra long which made it the only thing that had a chance of working on our awkward large opening at the top of our staircase. I needed something that could attach to a round staircase post. I wrapped one end around the post itself because the gate was too long and tied it with ribbon. This works great for my 12 year old 30lb shi tzu because he is a good dog who just needed a visual reminder not to go down the stairs. Unfortunately, the mean cranky 12 year old 18lb Pomeranian that is forced to live downstairs because she wants to kill my shi tzu, immediately just pushed her way under it.
