PetSafe Rechargeable Bark Collar

Did not work on my dog

I am extremely disappointed with this product. We have five dogs in our household and already own two older, simpler PetSafe bark collars that have worked reliably for years on our older dogs. Based on that positive experience, we purchased three of these rechargeable collars for our younger dogs. Unfortunately, none of them work at all. The collars are fully charged, turned on correctly, and properly fitted. Despite this, the dogs continue barking as if they aren’t wearing collars at all. There is no noticeable correction or response, even after extended use. It honestly feels like the collars are nonfunctional. We’ve been testing them for over two months, giving them plenty of time to work, and the result is always the same—no effect whatsoever. To make matters worse, we live outside the country, so shipping took time and returning them is not a realistic option. We spent approximately $240 on these collars and received zero results. Based on our experience, this product is a waste of money. Given that older PetSafe models worked well for us, this was especially disappointing. I do not recommend buying this collar.

It was a little confusing to figure out the off/on and whether it was still working only because of the lack of settings. But you just have to read the instructions carefully. And you can reset the collar if necessary. The collar briefly flashes green every five seconds if it has a charge and is working. It's so subtle, I couldn't see it under all his fur. Once I figured that out the rest is basically intervention free. It starts off shocking at the lowest level and gets progressively higher levels of shocks until it reaches the level that breaks your dog's tolerance level. So much better than me trying to guess whether to set the collar at a certain level and leaving it there. With the cheaper one I bought on here, my mini dachshund just figured out how many barks to avoid the shock. This collar has not completely eliminated the barking but the difference is life-changing. I don't think any collar could completely eliminate the barking with this dog. His barking is epic, like nothing I have ever experienced. This collar has been magic. The barking stops within pretty short order after it starts and he also seems to pause to consider whether certain things are worth it. He will groan and whine so I know he wants to let loose but he checks himself now. The difference has reduced the stress in the house and my husband isn't so mad at me for giving this little micro-sausage a home.

I loved how this worked once it was set up. It does exactly what it says it will. I absolutely did not like the setup. It's something along the lines of press down button until the light turns blue. Take the collar off the charger until the light turns red. Hold the button down until the light blinks green... obnoxious. I didn't like the charging cord. It will not stay in the collar port. It just falls out. Now, it won't even stay in at all, and therefore, won't charge the collar. I will be returning the item, and getting a refund.

I used to use a collar from this company for my dog's excessive barking from separation anxiety. It was working very well. When it finally broke, I tried to find a replacement but the model I used was discontinued. Then the pandemic happened, I stopped searching for a new collar because I was always home, she didn't have to bark. Now, it's getting back to normal, she starts to bark again when I leave home. I've tried a few collars from different companies. None of them were effective enough so my dog kept barking. I was hopeless till I found this model! My dog usually barks for 1min or so then stops. This collar has a level from 1-10. it increases the number of the level automatically until the dogs stop barking, then goes back to 1 again, so it's VERY safe. I am very happy with this product. This company know what they are doing.

Is not effective with our 55 lb mixed breed. Contacted PetSafe thinking the collar was defective and they sent me a replacement. New collar has the same result: dog still barks uncontrolled at passing cars.

I have two of these collars. One is used on my smaller aussiedoodle and the other on my mini aussie. Firstly the strap is a pain because it is silicone like and it loosens easily. It works great on my poodle mix because her neck hair is not thick so skin contact is easier. This product does not work for my mini aussie. I put it very tight, on the verge of choking, and I have trimmed his neck hair to ensure better contact but still not working to curb his barking. There is an app run version of a pet safe training collar that works well with his fur but for whatever reason this one does nothing to him. I like its functionality on my poodle mix and I like that it is rechargeable. Have not had any issues with burning of their skin. So in short, it works for thin haired or poodle mixes but if you have a dog with thicker hair it may not be successful.

I always try e-collars on myself first, so I know what the dog will experience. This collar detects the vibrations resulting from barking or intense whining and administers an immediate correction which increases in intensity as the sound vibrations continue. For anyone wondering if this hurts, the corrections are not unlike when a person wearing socks shuffles across the carpet and then shocks you. Easy to read instructions and support when needed. Reliable brand. Fast shipping. Comes with two sizes of lead heads so it is easily usable for longer haired dogs, and a replacement plug/stopper for the charging port.

Didn’t work. Don’t like wasting my money on faulty products that don’t work for very long will not be ordering from Amazon anymore for any products cause I have there gotten ones that don’t work or if I order something in clothing, they’re the wrong size and twice I haven’t got what I’ve ordered.

The majority of barking has stopped. The collar does nothing if someone actually comes to the door or knocks on the door. Then it's like he's not even wearing the collar.

Very pleased with this collar, it zaps the heck out of my dog when he’s doing the uncontrollable shihtzu bark. Also, the battery has not died on us yet. We even forget to turn it off for a few days when we went away for the weekend and left the collar at home, and it was still on when we got home!

I adopted an impossible beagle/rat terrier/blue heeler mix that went to another place when he was barking at cars/people/squirrels/other dogs/sometimes nothing at all, and just absolutely refused to learn the quiet command, he just kept whimpering and barking over and over and no amount of whistles or treats or anything would distract him from it until it was out of sight, and even then it took a few minutes to calm down. This collar put a stop to his howling while I’m away and he is slowly learning not to bark whilst walking. He still sometimes thinks I am somehow controlling the shock through the leash, and he pulls away, but because he wears it while we aren’t home he beginning to understand the correlation between the shock and the barking.
