Review: Repaired my exhaust with this! Saved me $$$ - This stuff is great! I just used it to patch a cracked exhaust on our Toyota Corolla. I was about to invest 300 and parts plus an hour or two in labor. But when I inspected the exhaust closely from the Cadillac converter all the way back to the muffler. I noticed almost everything was in pretty good shape other than the one spot where there was a hairline fracture. Right after the joint, headed towards the muffler. On a whim, I decided to check on here to see what they had for muffler repair because I hadn’t been pleased with the local advanced auto had on the shelves. I found this and the JB weld muffler repair. I bought both, but I ended up going with this because I thought for my particular situation this would be the best. I’m glad I did. It was really easy to use. I prepped the area by wire brushing around the crack. And then using a rag with isopropyl alcohol to clean before applying. Wasn’t sure how much to use, but I put on a pair of latex gloves and cut approximately half the product to use. I mixed it with my hands while wearing the gloves until it was a uniform color and then I applied it to the crack all the way around the muffler. It was easy to apply and mold into the shape I wanted. It was only like 40° outside, so I propped up a heat gun from a distance and let that hit it for about an hour. After that, I didn’t start the car until the next morning but when I did, it sounded perfect again! So far I’m really happy. I haven’t driven the car much yet so I will keep the review updated. But so far I’m very pleased and hopeful based on other reviews. In my case, I would rate this an incredible value for the money!
Review: Saved me $50! Perfect for patching up an old ash bucket - Living in the mountains, my fireplace is a primary heat source, and my ash bucket gets a workout every single day. I noticed rust holes starting to form along the bottom edge, and instead of dropping $50 on a brand-new bucket, I decided to try a more affordable fix with this J-B Weld 8297 HighHeat Putty Stick. The Application: This putty is incredibly easy to work with. You just cut off the amount you need and knead it until it's a uniform grey color. It has a consistency similar to play-dough, which made it easy to mold right into the rust holes and press firmly along the bottom edge. Performance: Heat Resistance: Since it's rated for continuous heat up to 450°F and intermittent heat up to 500°F, it's perfect for a container that holds warm ashes. Cure Quality: I let it cure for the full 24 hours, and it dried rock-solid with no shrinkage. Durability: The bond is extremely strong. It feels like it’s practically welded to the metal, and I no longer have to worry about fine ash leaking out of the bottom. Pros: Incredible Value: A few dollars' worth of putty saved me the cost of a new bucket. Easy Cleanup: It doesn't "run" or drip like liquid epoxy, so I was able to keep the repair relatively neat. Industrial Strength: It outperforms conventional epoxies in high-temp scenarios. Cons: Mixing: You have to make sure you mix it thoroughly until the color is uniform, or it won't cure properly. Bottom Line: If you have metal household items subjected to heat that are starting to show their age, don't throw them away. This HighHeat putty is a fantastic, low-cost way to get a few more years out of your gear. Pro Tip: Before applying, use a wire brush to clean around the rust holes and then wipe the area with a bit of isopropyl alcohol. The better the prep, the stronger the final bond will be!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can you use this to seal a leaking transfer case seal? (would work ? instead of having to replace the seal?)**
A: I guess it depends on if you ever want to fix it right. Once you use this stuff thats how it will be forever, it's not pliable or removable

**Q: I striped out an oil drain plug on a generator motor. But there is a second drain on the other side of the engine. Will this seal in oily environment?**
A: if you are thinking about plugging the hole, yes, but if you have access to the inside of the pan i would use it to attach a plate to the inside. you could also grind down the outside free of rust / dirt and use it to bond a plate to the outside. i would be concerned about just using it as a plug, where using it to bond something to the pan would not span a 1/2 to 5/8 in. gap. you might even use a quarter or a nickle or something stainless that will not rust. after it sets, hit it with some high temp paint.

**Q: Can you use this on ceramic pottery or is it just for metal?**
A: You can,but for ceramic you dont need the high heat one, just the regular temperature version. This one is for exhausts etc..

**Q: Will work to repain a hole in car oil pan under the engine?**
A: Probably. Make sure it is really clean, sand the area where the epoxy goes. Maybe plug the hole with a broken off toothpick if it is still on the car to keep oil from seeping into the epoxy. Put a glob the size of a quarter and make sure the toothpick is covered. Put duct tape over the epoxy until hard. Should work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid epoxy
*by L***D on March 25, 2026*

Solid epoxy. Used it on my exhaust metal cover. Description how to use it could be better. I’m just used YouTube. Use gloves. Very sticky there is an invisible plastic cover inside. You should remove it before mixing it.
