Resolved iced up freezer and warm refrigerator - Excellent part to have handy!
This helped to fix a refrigerator that iced up on the freezer coils and caused the bottom refrigerator to get warm and stay warm. The refrigerator this was replaced on was a Whirlpool. At the same time I also replaced the timer and thermostat. I figure one out of those three will eventually go, so might as well replace them all. Not expensive at all. All together was under $25 and satisfaction of a replacement well done!

Got My Fridge Back to Normal
This small part was able to get my fridge back up and running. I was able to avoid hiring an expensive repair person or from buying a new fridge.

Easy to change with a screw driver/nut driver
I have replaced this part every 5-7 years. No telling how many 'fridge's have been junked because they needed this part. Easy to change with a screw driver/nut driver, 5 mins install. The old part can be turned with a screwdriver through it's cycles, and if compressor & fan comes on & cools, and the heating element comes on for the defrost cycle, chances are this timer is bad. Put a mark on the timer body and the manual control knob, (the gray circle with the hole in it in the upper center of the part's picture). Wait about an hour & see if it has rotated any. If not, your timers bad. This is usually accessible from the outside lower back of the fridge. I bought 2 so I'd have a spare. With my Amazon Visa points, only cost me $8 apiece delivered. Sure beats buying a new 'fridge!

that was my favorite part. The fridge started making this very loud ...
I have a Frigidaire FRT18HB5JW4. The Defrost timer locked up at 2:30 am last Sunday morning, that was my favorite part. The fridge started making this very loud buzzing noise, could hear it all over the house. Noise was a lot louder when you opened the fridge door. I followed the noise back to inside the fridge compartment inside an access panel next to the light and the thermostat. I removed the old one and looked it up on google. This came up as a replacement. A YouTube video said if the defrost timer stopped working you could manually trigger the timer by using a flat head screw driver to turn the exposed wheel. the gray thing, until it clicked. I did and when I plugged it back into the fridge the buzzing stopped and fridge ran normally. This method got me through the two days until Amazon could ship the replacement to me. Installed in about 30 seconds, no big deal. Hopefully it will out last the 10 year old fridge. This timer is a shorter duration(6 hours) than the original (10 hours), also the defrost cycle is only 21 minutes rather than 44 minutes. Another reviewer said this didn't seem to effect the fridges operation. I will update if I notice anything.

Part works great. Difficult to install due to frig design (location).
The hardest part was isolating the problem. Removing the old and installing the new part was the challenge. It was at the bottom front behind the removable grill (easy), but access to the mounting screws was a real challenge (1/16” turns took patience). Note this was due to the refrigerator design not the part itself. The part is working great!! Saved lots of $$ (didn’t have to replace frig).

Resolved my problem
I have an old Admiral refrigerator. The refrigerator started running all the time and felt warm to the touch. I suspected the defrost timer. I bought this and figured what the heck, for the price, it was worth a try. The timer had the same pin sequence as the original and looked almost identical to the original. It fit perfectly and within 15 minutes the refrigerator was back in operation. Everything seems to be working very well. Thankfully, I didn't immediately buy a new refrigerator.

There are easy walk through tutorials on YouTube
If your freezer is workIng but your fridge is warm. You need this item! You should also get Frigidaire 5303918202 Defrost Heater Kit For Refrigerator (thermostat). They work together. Save yourself the trial and error headache. And just replace bother the thermostat and defrost timer. Cheaper then buying a new refrigerator. There are easy walk through tutorials on YouTube. Hope this helps.

Pay attention to where it is in the defrost cycle.
After tracking down that the defrost timer was the culprit of the refrigerator not running, I ordered and installed this replacement part. Upon installing it, plugged it in and all that I had was the interior light working. Checked the back connections since nothing was happening...at all. Discovered that the defrost timer was in the "Defrost mode" from the factory, so a minor tweak of the timer gear using a flat blade screwdriver made it click out of defrost, and all is well. Make sure it is out of the defrost cycle when installing it.

Bought this as a replacement. It has the same physical dimensions as the OE part that was in my Amana refrigerator. However, the defrost cycle occurs every 6 hrs instead of the 10 hrs for the OE part. So far it has performed well and I have more or less regained my trust that the timer will not stick/stop during the defrost cycle and not resume cooling. So far so good.

The delivery was fast, the cost was reasonable and the unit works as it should. What more can I say??

It works and fits well into place and fridge back running. But it gets very hot. Don't remember it so hot with the old one. Somewhat worrying and don't know if it is normal.
