Hang in there - he's not a bad kid
At first I was ready to give up on Rafe, the main character in this book, but I held out hope that he wasn't a bad kid - just that he was dealing with some sort of difficulty in his life or secret heartache. I read this with my nine year-old son, and we enjoyed it. We loved James Patterson's other book "I Funny" and, just like that one, this story has humor and sadness mixed in. We look forward to reading the rest of the middle school books.

Excellent choice for one entering middle school
My daughter is adjusting to starting her first year of middle school. Her teacher requested her to bring in chapter books for her reading period. So, I gifted this to my daughter a few days ago and she has had it by her side ever since. She really enjoys the story, as well as the illustrations. The hardcover option is also nice for her to keep it intact between home and school.

PERFECT!!
My son does not like to read, but I bought this book for my son's 12th birthday, after I saw the ad on TV, hoping it would hold his interest. I read it first and I was hooked! I couldn't put it down! It was well written with real life kid and family issues that you can relate to easily. It was funny and entertaining and had great pictures in the book. My son, stayed up 3 nights in a row to read this book by flashlight!!! He loved it. I have never found a book to capture his interest so well. Since I had read it first, I asked him questions about what he had read and then would give him teasers to keep his interest peaked to find the answers. He texted me in the middle of the night to tell me about "Leo", a character in the book. (ha-ha) This is a fabulous book for a middle school boy. My son and I highly recommend it - even for those finicky readers!!!

We love James Patterson!
This is such a cute series. My son is in the 5th grade and I bought him this for Christmas. He has enjoyed reading it and wants me to get the other books in the series. He is a strong reader, but also a reluctant reader, so for him to ask for more books is really saying something about the quality of the story. James Patterson is amazing!

Very funny
Great read.. especially for a reluctant reader like my 11 year old. He read this book and literally laughed out loud in the process. He was quite sad that it was over once he'd read it. He described it as "well wicked". I'm sure others will find it the same. Great price on Amazon too!!
