8/29/2021 - 4th updateStill using this trash can. Looks very much as it did from day one. No dents. Some minor signs of wear but nothing noticeable to someone not looking for it. Operates just as it did from day 1. It is used daily and batteries require replacement about every 18 months. My oldest son loved it so much he bought one for his first home. When it finally gives out, I hope the same item is available for repurchase because I will replace it immediately. Worth every penny and then some.5/6/2018 - 3rd update.It's been 10 months and this thing still looks brand new and works as well as it did the day I got it. It's used multiple times every day and I've replaced the batteries only once. I hope it lasts, at least, another 10 months but I'll be buying again if and when it ever breaks.Original review and an update:Updating my review to 5 stars today. It's been 4 and a half months. I've only had to replace the batteries once so far. It is still working perfectly and almost everyone who sees it wants to know where I bought it. I was worried about the exterior getting dents. It's been knocked over a few times and it still looks brand new. Not even a tiny dent or scratch. It's super easy to wipe clean when needed. The lid has been removed countless times to change the trash bag but still fits snuggly like it did on day 1. Really glad I purchased this.Today, I like it ... but I understand most of the negative reviews.The trash can looks sharp. I'm decorating a new home and was torn between certain trash cans. A trash can isn't exactly an item you want showcased in your kitchen and this one definitely stands out ... but I was intrigued by the touch-free feature and it is only $10 more than the last plastic trash can I purchased. I decided to pull the trigger and give it a try ... with low expectations.It came decently packaged but not protected enough to withstand dents/damage had anything terribly heavy been tossed on the box during transit. The trash can is thin and not nearly as sturdy as your typical plastic containers ... but probably sturdy enough if you are careful with it. Some people have complained that their lids did not fit properly. I can see this occurring quite easily. Some buyers have complained about the lid not sealing well enough to keep out odors. I don't toss things in my trash that could stink up my kitchen so this would never be an issue for me. This container is operated by 4 AA batteries. I cannot review battery life yet though I will update this in a few months.The trash can opens easily and in a timely manner. We don't have to wave our hand over the sensor. We simply place our hand or the trash directly over the lid and it opens immediately. I do wish it would close sooner. There is 6-7 second delay. The trash can also produces a noise when the lid opens and a louder one upon closing. It's not an offensive sound but noticeable even from the next room.We are all digging the touch-free feature and I like the stainless steel appearance more than I thought I would. So far, it gets 4 stars. I'll update after we've had a chance to put it to good use. I'm curious how long this thing will last and honestly thinking we'll be lucky to have it functioning and without dents in 6 months. But, for now, we like it and I have no regrets in buying it.

Works fairly well. A little bit noiseier than others I've seen. Looks nice. Nice slim design.

I have OCD so I loved the fact that I don’t have to touch the lid every time I throw something away. And changing the bag is very easy. I loved plastic piece that keeps the bag in place. Also It is operated by a motion. Meaning it has a sensor that when it detect motion it will open long enough to throw what ever it is that your throwing away and closes on its own. If you’re looking for one I highly recommend this one. I got the chrome color It’s Sealed well so no odor comes out and looks good where ever you put it. The size is perfect I’m the type of person that only buys things to make my life and family life’s easier and this my friends did just that. Arrived in perfect condition .I would definitely without a shadow of a doubt buy again if for any reason I had too.

As a single woman, this is the best trash can I have ever owned. Been using it done April with numerous uses throughout the day and no problems to report. Great odor control (with the lid closed).

Love the convenience. When you lift the top off, there is a band that fits around the top to prevent the bag from falling in. Just lift it off and replace bag. It’s opens and closes very smoothly. Just hover your item over sensor & it opens immediately.

I've had this trash can for for around 2 years now, and it seems to be near the end of its life so I thought I'd write my review. TL;DR: It's okay, could be way better. Bag retention is good, odor control is good, but the condition worsens kind of quickly and the build quality wasn't made for kitchens at all imo.When we first got it, it was great. The sensor was accurate, it closed quickly and securely, and I like that you could open it manually and it would stay open, unlike the sensor option which closes on a timer. It isn't very quiet, but none of us minded that, it's not egregiously loud. The one thing I had qualms about was all of the various surface heights on the trash can, because it required constant cleaning that wasn't going to be an easily wipeable surface.Sometime this year, I have no idea where one of the battery covers went but it is inside the underside of the lid which I also don't love about it. But the battery cover was gone and the sensor mechanism doesn't work without 4 C batteries so I had to jerry rig it by taping the batteries into their holder. Not great but temporary until I got around to looking for a more permanent solution. Lasted maybe a month and is no longer working again. I don't know if this is due to the batteries being depleted or the tape fix not really working but that is a problem that I'm not keen on fixing because I would have to take off the entire lid just to see and due to the constant cleaning required is not that fun to deal with. Wish the battery opening was on the back side of the lid.The motor has also slowed down tremendously and opens a lot slower, the sensor isn't as sensitive or accurate, and it seems to not have the strength to open completely all the time. The bag retention is good with the ring that comes with it, except maybe a bit too good because one of my family members tried to pull the bag from the top one time, the whole bottom of the can came up with it. What goes up, must come down. It cracked the tile underneath. We now have it on top of a carpet with padding to avoid that happening again.
