Question 2

I am constantly being disconnected.  only works again once i either restart or turn off wifi then back on.  any solutions?

Windows updates re-enable all the Wi-Fi network adapters..
If you disable all WIFI network adapters but the one starting with 
Realtek8812BU... the restart your computer this should fix disconnect issues.
Make sure you do this after every Windows  update and check to see that only Realtek8812BU... is enables.
Go to Device Manager->Network Adapters->Realtek

Can i use a longer usb extension cable than your 5ft cable? at what length will signal degrade?

Recommend you do not go over 10-feet total cable length unless you use an *Active* extension cable, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HP2UI/  While a passive cable may work for a while, it will be more prone to error and retransmission. Quality is VERY important also. A poor quality passive cable will not work as well.

Question 4

When traveling I want to pull in the parking lot of businesses offering wi-fi with out having to go inside. Will brostrend 1200 work using Window 10 ?

First, I have never tried to install this product on a Windows 10 machine - but if them boys at BrosTrend offer a driver for Windows 10 - then it will work.  Second - that piece of equipment picked up WiFi connections from blocks away from the house where I was installing this device - and the signals were strong too.  I have no doubt that the 1200 will pick up their signals - however - you may have to get their passwords to use the signal.  I know McDonald's WiFi is password protected.  I don't know about StarBucks.  Good luck to you.
