Works Perfectly With Apple iPad Mini4 and Griffin Survifor All-Terrain Case
Some of the reviews of this stand aren't very complimentary, but I decided to take a chance on it anyway. The aluminum base is beautifully crafted, the pivoting arms are sturdy and have plenty of friction to retain their position, and even the plastic bracket that grips the phone or pad is strong and well made. It wasn't clear in the description, but the bracket has two sides, one for smaller phone sized devices, the other for larger things like iPads, so it works with a wide variety of devices. The instructions that came with it are well illustrated, but the pamphlet is small making it difficult to read. But the only real assembly is to attach the plastic bracket to the top of the pivoting arm, which is the focus of many complaints. I was unable to get the little screw tight enough to keep the bracket from twisting when I only used my fingers to tighten it. So I took it out into the shop, found a rather large screwdriver that fit the slot, and dabbed a little thread locker on the screw before trying again. This time, the bracket was held tightly in place and hasn't moved since. I bought this stand to use with an Apple iPad Mini 4 that I keep inside a Griffin Survivor All-Terrain case, and the combo works perfectly together. I was worried that the bracket wouldn't hold tightly enough, or wouldn't spread far enough, to accommodate the case, but neither is a concern. With the iPad centered over the controls, you can't see your hands or what they're doing, but the DJI Mavic Mini controls don't have a screen, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything. By the way, the base plate fits perfectly into the arms and body of the DJI controller; it was obviously made for it. There's no slop or looseness, and no chance the two will part company until you're ready to take them apart when needed. I did end up ordering a 12" long cable to connect the iPad to the controller, as the one supplied with the drone wasn't nearly long enough. The Ortikar Compatible 1FT 90 Degree Micro USB to iphone ipad OTG Data Cable Right Angle Phone Tablet Connector Cord DJI Spark, Mavic Pro, Platinum, Air, 2 Pro, Zoom Remote Controller Accessories (2 Pack), fit perfectly and works great, and was ordered here on Amazon at the same time as the stand. The photos show the stand both collapsed and extended, and there's really not much difference in overall size. There's no room for the stand in the case that came with the DJI Fly More combo, but the stand doesn't take much room in the bin that holds the rest of the drone accessories and getting the controller on and off the stand is quick and easy. Having said all this, I've only used the stand a couple of times so far, so it's hard to say how it will hold up over the long run. But the stand came with Allen wrenches and a tube wrench to fit the fasteners in the pivots, so should they loosen up with use, it should be easy to get them tight again. Other than that, there's just not much to go wrong with this thing. It's probably worth mentioning that this stand came with an adapter for the CrystalSky, whatever that is, and is not needed if all you 're going to use it with is a phone or a pad. Pretty sure that the same stand is available with out the CrystalSky adapter at a slightly lower price here on Amazon. If you're looking for a sturdy stand to hold together your $$$$ drone and phone/pad, spend a few extra bux and get one that's solid and easy to use. Two thumbs up and five starts from me...

Need better Quality Control
I ordered this product based on reviews of the quality and though it supported multiple devices, I was primarily interested in the support for CrystalSky. The first unit I received would not tighten down on the CrystalSky mount. See photo, there was an 1/8 inch gap and the mount just swung around. Because the screw wouldn't come out of the base, I saw no way to modify this unit so I returned it for a replacement. The second unit also had the same problem. The difference with this unit is that the screw would come out of the base which allowed me to add 2 1/4 washers and 1 nylon washer that removed the gap and allowed the mount to tighten down firmly. Because of this I can only give 4 stars. Everything else worked as it was supposed to and the overall quality was acceptable and feels like it will last for a long time. I also liked the included Lanyard and they way it connects, really nice feature I will be using a lot. I think the screw needs to be reviewed as it is too long to work properly with the CrystalSky mount. If the screw needs to be this long for the other mount, then you should have included the necessary washers that allows it to tighten down. Everything the user needs to make these mounts work should be included with the unit.

Works great with my DJI spark drone.
Itโs great. Works as advertised and using the lanyard around your neck adds a lot of security, you know it will not slip out of your hands while youโre using it. It holds both my iPhone 6S plus and my Kindle fire HD 8. What more could you ask for?

Perfect for the Spark
Perfect for my Spark drone and iPad mini. Adjustable for both myself and my husband's viewing preference. I actually turn the iPad holder part upside down because I like the viewing angle much lower than "right side up". My husband however prefers a more vertical orientation so adjusts it accordingly. Easy to adjust, an absolutely perfect tablet holder for the drone. On the downside, one of the strap clips slipped the spring so suggest that you check the clips with each use just in case it fails. Another suggestion is that you pay the extra and order the Prime version from this same seller unless you don't care how fast the delivery is.

I mounted it wrong to begin with. The rubber ring mount should be horizontal, NOT vertical !
Excellent product. I mounted the iPad wrong at first, but learned. Great for pads on one side and phones on the other. Very solid in the controller arms. Great for better viewing with the adjustments in so many planes.

Almost perfect for the DJI Mavic 2 Mini, but falls a little short..
This is a very nice and well made mount, and looks to last a lifetime.. It even comes with a neat little socket wrench which is to be used to adjust the tightness the various mount screws should they need to be.. Plus it is a good looking mount as well, and being made of an aluminum alloy, it is very light.. Even so, it does come with a well made lanyard which makes holding the remote with even the very heavy 10" CrystalSky display much easier.. Also included with the mount is a plastic holder for cell phones or tablets.. This part doesn't even approach the quality and durability of the rest of the mount.. But since I will be using the DJI CrystalSky display, I will only say I am sure the holder will suitably hold a cell phone or tablet.. It is just in a totally different class from the main part of the mount.. The original DJI remote controllers have the cell phone mount below the controls and joysticks.. This mount is designed for these types of controllers.. If the Mavic 2 Mini used such a controller, this mount has one serious flaw.. The cable from the controller to the display would be blocked if a CrystalSky display were to be used.. Rather than using the high speed USB C port on the bottom of the display, you have to use the USB Micro port, on the side of the display.. The instructions included with the mount point out this problem.. The data transfer speed spec' for the USB Micro port, is slower than that for a USB C port.. Initially I thought this was going to be enough of a problem for me to send the mount back.. That is until I noticed if I assembled the mount as designed, and put it in place on the controller, the display would be backwards.. Remember, the mount was designed to be attached below the controller.. On the Mavic 2 Mini, it mounts above the controller.. However, once I spun the display mount around so the CrystalSky display faced the correct direction, the hole on the mount was no longer blocked and I can use the correct port on the CrystalSky display.. The only flaw using it like this has to do with the locking pin on the mount.. The base of the mount has a locking pin which fits into a hole on the CrystalSky mount plate.. It keeps the plate (and thus the display) from getting crooked.. I guess you could tighten the "bejeebers" out of the screw which hold the two part together, but this really isn't the best solution.. In all, it is a very nice mount for using a CrystalSky display on the Mavic 2 Mini controller.. I am mostly happy with the purchase.. Not delighted, but happy.. Thus why I only give it a 4 star rating.. flk k

Definitely worth it!
I really like this phone/tablet holder I have been using it for almost a year now. I have been using it mostly for my cell phone but I've recently bought a new 10-inch tablet for my drone and it works great. Sometimes I disconnect the tablet holding part and attach it to a tripod. This allows me to fly without having to carry my heavy tablet with a sun shade from my controller.

Strap Broke and Almost Lost New Mavic Pro 2
Yesterday had this product out with my iPad while flying my brand new Mavic Pro 2. While the Mavic was flying above some trees in Hyperlapse Waypoint mode, the neck strap suddenly broke and the iPad and controller fell. I had the controller in my left hand as it swung down and away and the iPad popped off the holder still attached by its wired connector. As I gripped the controller with my left hand my hand pushed the left control stick all the way forward (down) and the Mavic descended into the trees. It's safety sensors went into alarm and stopped it from moving any further into danger while I grabbed the iPad with my right hand and just stood there holding the controller and iPad away from my body to keep the Mavic where it was. I VERY gently tucked the iPad under my arm and brought the controller up and started looking for the Mavic. With alarms blaring I walked over to the trees and there it was hovering patiently in the tress waiting for me to rescue it. I flew it out of the trees and back to the landing area and got it down without incident, then sat on the back of my SUV and took a few deep breaths while looking at the strap. The right-hand clasp had pulled right through the buckle, which had a malformed - and cheaply made - small round area to hold the clasp fitting, which is shaped like a rivet. In addition, the spring-based clamp to hold the iPad was not near strong enough to hold the iPad Air I have. It is in a very thin case and did fit in the clamp, but the the lower ledge of the clamp was about 1/4" too short to hold the iPad and it kept popping out. This unit would work fine for an iPhone or Android, but it's not near stout enough for a heavier iPad. Instant return with Amazon and credit. I'm looking for another solution right now. UPDATE: Well, after trying a couple of other holders, I bought another one of these. I'm NOT using the strap, but I did figure out a way to keep my iPad (in its case) clamped on, although it's not very secure. I'm using the strap that came with the Mavic Pro 2 kit and it works fine... although I'll never trust any neck strap from now on. I added TWO stars to the review since it does work, and will work fine with a tablet that has no case.
