In my case, I've been able to get around 20 linear feet by reducing the thickness to 1/4". (I've applied it on top of a privacy redwood fence with 1/2" thick slats surrounding a swimming pool to discourage doves by the dozen from perching on top of the fence to do their morning poop. I was wasting precious water washing down the deck and fence afterward.) Even though the manufacturer recommends applying a 1/2" thick bead, doing so causes the bead to lose its shape and flatten out when it is being squeezed out of the tube, especially if you are using it in a narrow area such as on top of a fence. I found a less wasteful and more controlled application is to reduce the bead's thickness to 1/4." If a thicker application is wanted, apply a second time after the glue has hardened from the first application. **Q: Would this work for starrlings?** A: It absolutely will work for starrlings. Birds in general do not like sticky stuff on the bottom of their feet. I've had wonderful results with this product. **Q: Is this effective for pigeon problem?** A: Couldn't say. Works great on small birds. It is sticky as can be so it may work on pigeons too. For the few bucks it may be worth a try. **Q: Could I put this on my railings to keep birds from landing on them. Then clean it off after they stop? Does it clean off easy?** A: I have mine on a 1 1/2 inch ledge above a window on a covered patio. It works because it stays sticky. The birds are always testing it. After a couple of years it became less effective due to the dust blowing a lot in AZ. I scraped most of it off and applied new and it continues to work. You could scrape it off but would need a grease cutter to get the residual off I would think but the birds will come back. I would not want to get it on myself for the same reason the birds hate it, gooey.
