You don’t get much grassy or floral hints of flavor. The color is a vibrant green but the smell is not as vibrant. It’s a 4.4 if 5 in aroma . There is a very slight bitterness in this matcha as well . This is not my favorite for a daily ceremonial matcha but it’s still a very good matcha that is at par with other highly rated ones . This matcha does not froth either, this is most likely due to low saponin in this strain . I don’t recommend this as your first cup of matcha. I would try something a bit milder. If you are not new to the world of matcha give this a shot I think you will be pleasantly pleased. Update: after 3-4 cups I think this is in my top 2 Matcha’s on desertcart. During one of my online searches recently I came across Matcha Konomi and I was immediately drawn to their Amaya matcha because that is my first name and I just don't see it that often. I decided it would be fun to try but had no high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that it had a decent umami profile with no bitter aftertaste and a beautiful emerald green color. Most true ceremonial grade matcha is " non organic" in order to produce the health benefits and hue that is synonymous with Matcha tea, so that wasn't a turn off for me. Organic farming is great but when it comes to matcha, organic doesn't necessarily mean better. The fertilizers used is what allows the plants to produce higher levels of l-theanine, polyphenols and the plant's ultimate growth potential. Organic fertilizers aren't able to achieve the same results, but obviously. there's nothing wrong with wanting organic matcha...its' just not as potent as non organic. Japan has very strict and high farming standards and this company tests for radiation, so for those who are new to matcha, don't be scared off by the non organic label. Always check for certifications and third party tests. This company seems reputable and they back up their product. I have been enjoying Amaya Matcha and I will probably purchase it again. Thank you ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definitely Worth It *by M***E on March 9, 2019* I was unhappy with my first order of the Akira Ceremonial Grade matcha; I suspect this is because it came from an Amazon warehouse that didn't pay attention to perishables. Matcha Konomi was extremely eager (above-and-beyond) to make me a satisfied customer. The replacement was quite good. It had that bite that's common of ceremonial matcha and had a clean finish. I also noticed that this tea takes very little effort to produce a nice froth. I would put this tea about on par with many of the matcha teas I drank in Kyoto, some of those costing USD$20 more. I suspect I'll still tend to prefer ordering my ceremonial matcha from Nakamura Tokichi Honten, but that costs over twice as much and has an additional premium for international ordering/shipping. For someone looking for great matcha without breaking the bank, I think this is an excellent choice. Side note- Matcha Konomi also sells a "gourmet" (Oishi Organic Matcha) grade. It's smooth and almost milky in a way I've never tasted from matcha. It's difficult to describe the difference, but it's matcha that's in a league of it's own.
