Be aware of the MAX bottle dimensions so you don't get frustrated if you already have a wine bottle in mind. The plastic on the outside feels a little cheap( minus 1 star), but it has a nice look. I used it to secure some wine as a gift for my husband. The vault holds several different sizes of wine bottles and the combination was easy to set, although you do need to take the device apart to set the password. Once the bottle was secure with the password set, I placed it in the fridge and waited for my husband to come home. While it is true that the plastic gears could deteriorate over time, I think it is a wonderful gift idea that could be reused many times before that became an issue. Such a cool present. The only problem I have, and it may have said in the description, is the wine bottle was too tall to fit inside. I had to put something else inside of it and put the wine bottle to the side to give to them. Kind of sucks but I probably should have read the description. This person still loves puzzles so I'm sure they'll be happy with it. The product is also plastic in case anyone's not sure.
