She later studied in Britain and qualified as a librarian, eventually specialising in medical librarianship and information for health workers. She was, for many years, the librarian at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown, before taking up an appointment at the Regional Office for Africa of the World Health Organization in Congo, Brazzaville. Yema Lucilda Hunter’s books are always so readable! Loved the ease with which she penned down the heartfelt prayers and speeches uttered by various characters in the book. Best of all is the deft manner in which she dealt with the thorny matter of traditional vs. ‘born-again’ churches. So non-threatening & yet most educative! This is very useful and helpful for the public which is often confused by the apparent difference.I very much enjoyed reading 'Nanna'. I found it had much depth. It is packed full of African culture, along with a dash of Western culture too.
