Is this really the Pro version?

This is one of those instances in which Amazon has it wrong. Do an online search and you will quickly discover that you can buy the PRO version of the Hydro IV Sponge Filter from another highly reputable source for less money and without the ridiculous $5.99 shipping fee.

Question 2

The reviews are conflicting - I see some people mention these are pro filters with the reticulated sponge while others mention they are. What is it?

these are NOT the pro version; those are not sold on Amazon for obvious reasons by the manufacturer 
these sponge filters would be the equivalent of the blue or white sponge mat filters used for canisters but e bit finer pores.

will the top lift tube fit an Aqua Clear 20 or 40 Powerhead intake?

The Hydro Sponge uses a standard 1" lift tube for all size sponges, exactly the same size used on most under gravel filters. I checked reviews on Amazon for the Aqua Clear 20, and many users report using the Aqua Clear to power their under gravel filter, so I believe the Aqua Clear powerhead would also fit on a Hydro Sponge. I use the Hydro Sponge V "Pro", which uses a special reticulated sponge which resists clogging. The standard filters (non-Pro) have a finer pore structure, so need to be cleaned more often (how often depends on how dirty your fish are, but monthly would be a good place to start). The same company also makes "Filter Max" filters which use the same sponges, but have plastic elbows and several adapters to fit a wider range of powerheads and other water pumps. These might also fit, especially if you removed the plastic cone from the intake of your Aqua Clear.

Question 4

If i put 6 of them in a 600 gallon pool plus the original pool filter would that be enough ?

I have never dealt with that volume of water but these are really good sponges, I have to guess that 6 would do a good job but make a lot of surface agitation
