Looked at various other methods that were magnetic, but they relied on the furniture being metal or sticking an adhesive pad to the furniture. This item just grips the edge & is easily removable, leaving no marks/residue. It has stopped my cables dropping on the floor, where I had to repeatedly pick them up to plug devices in. Before buying, I couldn't work out how this might grip the desk: They're quite stiff, with just enough flex to clip onto the desk. The little rubber pad (ie. the base of the circular grip) adds the friction needed to keep attached to the desk.
