Kenny Loggins and Friends: Live on Soundstage

This video is the ultimate Kenny Loggins live show....so many guest join him onstage.....even a multi-song set with Jim Messina......this show covers a lot of ground in a long and successful music career. The blu-ray looks amazing and sounds great...and it is a long video...so defintely getting your moneys worth on this one.

This is a performance surrounding his carrer of music and I think it does a wonderful job w/ band & special guests that he has worked with. You sort of need to know his music history to see how he builds this special sequence. They used a good quality recording and dvd picture is top notch. A blu-ray is not needed. If you are Kenny Loggins fan you will love this concert.

A wonderful career retrospective from Kenny from 2017 now in Blu-ray finds him in great voice and with his main collaborators. I saw him with Jimmy Messina in 1974 or so and remember that band was great and tight as a drum. Flash forward to their reunion tour in 2005 and now 2017. Kenny seems to be having a great time and looks great at his age. Joined also by Michael McDonald and David Foster, and some his later bandmates, makes for a great program. If you like Kenny then what are you waiting for?

It's hard to believe that Kenny Loggins turned 70 his year. His voice is as strong and clear as ever. With the able assistance of David Foster, Michael McDonald (in excellent voice here), Jim Messina, Thundercat and others, Kenny goes through a two hour catalogue of great songs. The band is first rate, most notably James Wheeler on saxophone and Scott James Bernard on lead guitar. The Blu-ray image is excellent. The cover jacket lists the audio tracks as PCM Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1. That's incorrect. The surround sound track is lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1and it too is excellent. This concert disc is an ideal combination of great performances and technical merit and if you are fan or just like some of Kenny Loggins work it's a must buy.

Better than greatest hits as Kenny invites musicians from his past to assist. Well worth the money spent. When I watched Mr. Loggins' Grand Canyon dvd with my young nephew, he referred to Kenny as "the rock & roll Jesus." This is another miracle offering of talent and thoughts.

I am a great fan of Kenny and this concert shows that he still has what it takes to hold an audience spellbound. Has every song you mighty wish for with some great guest appearances by the likes of Jim Messina.

Kenny Loggins est peu connu en France à part pour la chanson du film Footloose. Et c'est dommage car c'est un artiste de talent dont la carrière dure maintenant depuis plusieurs décennies, avec bien d'autres tubes que Footloose à son répertoire. Ce concert dans le cadre de l'émission Soundstage est l'occasion de parcourir cette formidable carrière, en 2 CD et un DVD. Il est entouré par de très bons musiciens et accompagné par des invités prestigieux dont l'excellent Michael McDonald (quelle voix! Je ne me lasse pas de What a fool believes!) et le vieux complice Jim Messina, un vrai bonheur de les retrouver tous les 2 pour 7 titres, dont Your mama don't dance qui fait toujours taper des pieds! Bien sûr, le concert s'achève sur un Footloose énergique, au grand plaisir du public. Le son comme l'image sont de très grande qualité, comme d'habitude pour Soundstage. Indispensable à tous les fans (et il en a en France!) mais aussi un très bon moyen de découvrir cet artiste d'exception.
