Dumb question- why do I need the combo cable?

The 230W unit supports HP workstations. You do not need the combo cable if you do not have a workstation. You can still press the on button (if supported in notebook) and it will come on. The barrel connection is for workstations that need more power.

Is this the 230w model, and does it come with the Combo Cable?

Aventis - the combo cable resets with slight bump. Can you verify I could replace the Combo Cable (unscrew bottom area) with Combo Cable part 3XB95AA, HP Thunderbolt Dock 230W G2 cable (3XB95AA)

The photos do not show the power supply needed for this docking station. If it is included can you include a photo and description in the posting?

The item that I bought and received included the HP power pack like you might see with an HP laptop: it is a flat, somewhat slim converter that has a cord to the wall (and that cord can be unplugged from the converter), and another cord from the converter to the Thunderbolt dock. It's a fairly standard HP power supply setup. If you don't get the converter/power supply with it, it probably isn't the complete item that you ordered.

does this support dual 60hz 4k monitors for a spectre x360 2019?

Most important is does your computer support that that video standard? If it does than the dock should be OK. Probably also what video cables does it require?
