Low water pressure?
This attachment and the other parts needed to complete a custom wand may seem expensive but they're worth the price. (other parts needed include the tube extension if you need a wand and a water breaker head available in different sizes and flow rates) I have low water pressure because my well pump is about 40+ ft lower than where I water my container garden. This modular system was the answer. Customize it to your needs as Dramm makes several modular valve types. A normal sized water breaker head (found on most water shower wands) just results in a drizzle to a heavy stream (no shower) that disrupts the soil surface making it almost impossible to start plant seeds in a container without most getting washed away by the heavy flow (scallions, radishes, and other shallow plantings that you wouldn't start in individual seed starters). I bought the 170 hole head. Due to it's smaller size and fewer holes this water breaker is the perfect answer to get a nice shower from light to maximum flow under low water pressure conditions. For me the price for this and the other individually sold pieces needed to complete a customized watering wand is justified by the money I've wasted buying watering wands designed for municipal water pressures that end up given away or thrown in the trash. I can't end my review without mentioning that this valve handle is well made to truly professional specifications (as are the other parts in Dramm's professional series)!

Solid build, intuitive operation
Intuitive design. Pushing the lever forward increases flow, pulling back decreases it. The one we've been using works the opposite, which was really annoying because everyone kept turning the flow up when they intended to turn it down. This unit feels really solid, like it will last even in this commercial application. Dramm got this right, as usual.

I was skeptical about this but decided to gamble on it. It works very well and appears it will have long life. A bit pricey but that's Dramm for you.

Full flow - actual 5/8” ID I think. More than Melnor
This one has a ball valve that doesn’t restrict the water flow unlike most others. The only other one I’ve found is the dramm brass valve. The dramm black plastic one looks the same but it has a smaller opening… it tricked me on that one! I tried several diff valves, most recently Melnor, hqmc, twinkle star, mingle, and this one has a bigger diameter opening. I think it’s full 5/8 water flow but it’s definitely bigger. I also like th handle on it. It’s easier to control and less likely to accidentally turn on than the brass and plastic valves. The inside of this thing is all metal except for th valve. The outside is a coating on metal. It’s only downside is the material of the handle. It’s plastic and might break. Oh and it’s larger than any other valve I’ve seen! But that might be a pro for you. A tip - dramm sells watering wands that come with a removable one of this valve. You can buy that for $35 vs $25 for the valve alone. That’s what I should’ve done!

Very clean and simple - perfect for horse watering.
Just what us horse owners have needed - a one piece device with a simple lever at the end of a hose to fill the water buckets. We had been using a brass Dramm valve attached to an adapter attached to a short length of hose, but this is much cleaner and simpler. Thanks!

Works great!
This is the second one we’ve bought. The first lasted about 10 years. The old one still works and shuts off water without any leaks but it now leaks where the hose is attached.

Valve is too difficult to push open
Dramm, Please pay attention to your customer reviews and comments about this nozzle. We have used these Dramm nozzles for years and they always worked well until the Zinc inside corrodes and breaks or start to leak on each side where the plastic handle connects. The last 2 years or so, they have not the same. The ball valve is sooooo tight you have to use both of your thumbs to open and close it. It is such a tight valve that sometimes the handle pops off when you try to push it open. Dramm advertises this as a One Touch Valve offers thumb-tip control of your water flow stating that its extremely easy to use and can be adjusted from off to full flow and anywhere in between with thumb-tip precision. I assume Dramm is fully aware that this nozzle is NOT "One Touch" I just bought 4 of these and all of them are way to hard to push open. I am going to try to order 2 more and if they are the same, then you can guarantee the last batch of these nozzles that were made for Dramm are no good. This is the best nozzle in the game but for some reason Dramm can't get them dialed in. We sure hope they figure it out really soon. Gardner's are waiting for this nozzle to be perfected.

Lasted a couple years but Leaking Badly. Non-repairable.
While this is a great product in terms of ergonomics and function, the durability is poor. This valve and almost all other Dramm valves begin to leak - in this case from where the loop that you use to turn it on/off meets the main housing of the valve. There is no obvious way to repair or replace whatever gasket is going bad. And a lifetime warranty that doesn't cover "wear and tear" isn't really a lifetime warranty.

Not a bad price for what seems to be a really solid product with a lifetime warranty behind it (I haven't looked into their warranty process but one can hope if it ever comes to that...). Male threads are solid brass, female end is aluminum or maybe zinc (I didn't care too much or look too closely—there's plastic screwed into it right now so that shouldn't get itself in much trouble). Definitely on the heavy side, if that matters to you. This was to replace the common cheap plastic ones with the silver-painted male thread end, as mine (all $4 worth of it) was starting to leak. Hopeful that this sucker will stand the test of time!

solid build quality and ergonomic control of water flow.

I never actually had a chance to use this because I found that the thumb switch was very hard to push forward. I'm sure over time it would get better, but I opted to return it because I didn't want to injure my thumb from constant strain of turning it on and off.

The control is a bit stiff for one-handed operation but the fit is good and it does not leak. Dramm makes good stuff.
