Sawyer Squeeze Water Filtration System

Bought this for a family backpacking trip and love it. I didn't keep track, but likely filtered 30-40 liters for our 3 day trip, and it showed no signs of slowing down. I only have one 3 day trip with this filter, but so far it's easily the best filter I've had. I've used hand pump filters, chemical treatment, boiling water, other gravity filters, and this is by far the best. It filters fast even with just gravity. If needed the extra squeeze speeds things up (something my last gravity filter would not allow). Most of the time we just hung up my filter bag walked away and came back when it was done. When I got home I back flushed (also something my last gravity filter did not allow) and bleached per the instructions. It was easy and clearly had some affect as the backwash water was quite dirty. With respect to the filter I really have nothing bad to say about it. For $40 it's a great deal even without the accessories. If I had to be not picky, the only thing I could see making some improvement is some of the accessories. I didn't have any issues with the bags, but others have reported issues, and I've had issues with similar style flasks in the past. I ended up using a 3 liter flask from my previous Katadyne befree and let gravity filter water straight into my 3 liter MSR hydration bladder. This worked great! The fittings that came with it worked just ok. I like to have more hose, so again I stole some from one of my previous filters. I would have gotten by just fine with what was provided, but to get hands off filtering from one pouch to the next, I modified the setup a bit. Last, is a problem I have thats not unique to this filter. Trying to fill a pouch from questionable stagnant water is challenging, the water usually needs some kind of prefiltering (bandana), and needs to be scooped out. The is one of the few scenarios where a hand pump filter with a prefilter on the inlet hose wins out. Overall this is my favorite filter and expect it will be my primary filter from now on. If anything change my opinion I'll come back and update my review.

excellent quality product! I bought one of these sawyer squeeze filters 3yrs ago and absolutely love it!! used it numerous times while kayaking, and it works awesome! now obviously the taste of the water will be based on the source so please understand that! I was drawing from a large lakes and small rivers so the water tasted like, well, like river water! kinda similar to good old fashioned hose water! but it was clean, no sediment, etc. its small enough to fit in your tackle box, glove box, bigger coat pockets etc. it comes with 2, 32oz pouches, syringe for back flushing the filter, extra rubber seals, which are standard garden hose or washer hose rubber seals so if ya lose them thats what will fit perfectly. but it comes with extras. extra caps, and a short hose. the srew-on threads on filter are only compatible 28mm bottles/bags so keep that in mind! very portable, perfect for any EDC, and i highly recommend this for that reason!! this is actually my 6th, 1 in each of my vehicles, 2 in my bug out bag, and 1 in my fishing gear bag!! a must have portable water filter for any occasion that works exactly how it's supposed to!!

Water filters are hard to review as how do you really know without scientific testing (to some extent) that they really work? All I can say is that I've used this many times on the trail, and unscientifically, I've never been sick. It's small, portable and easy to use. The ability to use store bought water bottles is just a really good idea so you don't have to worry about some proprietary size for the unfiltered water bottle source (or the filtered water bottle, but I don't have to worry about that, see below). I did read about the washer at the bottom sometimes falling out, so I bought some spare washers and have one taped to the body just in case. Additionally if you filter water with the tops screwed in, you'll find it harder with the air pressure to keep filtering if you just don't leave it on a gravity feed. I attached a length of tubing that falls into the open neck of a water bottle and that solved that kind of problem. I also have my filtered water bottle higher so that if anything breaks or unfiltered water dribbles down, unfiltered water won't be mixing with filtered water. Still really easy to use like that and gives me peace of mind. I really love this water filter. The only slight negative? Well just put it in your sleeping bag on freezing nights as it could damage the filter if the water freezes. A solution for Sawyer could be to have some sort of top that seals it so water in the filter can't leak through (I sleep with mine in a zip lock for this reason).

I’ve been using the Sawyer Squeeze Water Filtration System for a while now, and it’s become one of my go-to filters for camping and hiking trips. It’s incredibly lightweight and compact, making it easy to toss into a backpack without taking up much space. The filtration itself is top-notch. It’s rated to filter out 99.99999% of bacteria and 99.9999% of protozoa, which gives me a lot of confidence when using it with water from streams, lakes, rivers, or even questionable rainwater. It’s reassuring to know I can get clean water without having to worry about harmful contaminants. The system is super easy to use, too. Just fill up one of the included pouches at your water source, screw the filter on, and either drink directly from the filter or squeeze the water into a bottle. The flow rate is pretty decent at 1.7 liters per minute, so I never feel like I’m waiting too long to get a drink. However, the biggest downside is the durability of the squeeze pouches. Out of the four I’ve used, two didn’t last more than five trips before they started to fail. While they worked great initially, I was disappointed to see them wear out so quickly. Luckily, the filter itself is excellent, so even when the pouches wear out, you can still use it with standard water bottles or set it up in a gravity system. Overall, I’d say this is one of the best water filters I’ve used, especially for the price. It’s perfect for outdoor adventures where you’re dealing with natural water sources, and it’s lightweight enough for backpacking. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the durability of the pouches. If you’re okay with replacing them or using alternative containers, this system is a fantastic choice for clean, safe water on the go.

Sawyer squeeze works phenomenally well. Used it while backpacking in Yellowstone and The Tetons just recently. Filtered water from many a stream and it was very refreshing and clean. Backflushed it when I got home and it's ready to use for our next trip.

Love this filter. My son and I used it for a five die backpacking trip. It slowed down a little bit, but we back flushed and it worked great. I recommend this while backpacking. Be sure to shake out extra water when you’re finished filtering so you don’t carry extra water, but also so that it doesn’t leak into your pack. Also be sure to keep it in a small dry bag (Ziploc) and keep it in your pack if temperatures drop. Also don’t drop this filter on a hard surface.

Works so well!!! Light to carry and makes everything safe to drink. Easy!

Bonjour, Produit reçu parfaitement neuf dans son emballage d'origine avec deux poches à eau, le sawyer, la pipette de nettoyage, 2 embouts permettant de raccorder le sawyer à la poche à eau directement, un filet pour suspendre la poche à eau. Très content du produit, le débit est bon, je l'ai utilisé au Népal et je prenais environ 7/8 minutes pour remplir 4 litres d'eau (j'avais une poche à eau de 2l d'eau donc je devais la remplir plusieurs fois avec de l'eau 'sale' pour remplir 4 bouteilles d'1L: je remplissais l'eau dans des bouteilles d'1L de type soda grace à une bague qui s'adapte sur le sawyer (je l'ai imprimé avec imprimante 3d), taper sawyer + tornado tube vous trouverez des vidéos sur youtube expliquant cette adaptation !

I’ve been using the Sawyer SP129 PointOne filter system on a few camping trips, and I’m really happy with it so far. It’s lightweight, efficient, and gives peace of mind when you’re not sure about water quality. What I love: Filtration power: It filters down to 0.1 micron, which means it removes bacteria, protozoa, and other nasty stuff. It’s amazing how clear the water is after filtering. Easy to use: You just fill the squeezable pouch, squeeze it through the filter, and drink or store it. No fussing with pumps or hoses. Light and portable: Weighs next to nothing. I toss it in my backpack without feeling it. Good flow rate: Even after a few uses, it still flows well. Doesn’t clog up quickly in my experience (I rinse it as recommended). Durable design: It seems rugged enough to handle rough handling. I’ve dropped it and used it on rock surfaces and it’s holding up. Things to keep in mind: You’ll need to backflush it regularly to maintain flow. It’s easy though, just use the included syringe and good clean water. It works best with relatively clear water. If the water is super muddy, it slows down (but that’s true of almost all filters). You need to plan your water stops – it doesn’t carry huge volumes itself, just filters what you supply it. Verdict: If you’re into hiking, camping, or traveling in places where water safety is uncertain, this is a smart, reliable choice. It gives you confidence that you’re drinking safer water. Highly recommend if you want something effective, simple, and durable.
