Review: Excellent Dash Cam with WIFI, Hardwiring Kit and Rear Camera - This dash cam package has a little of everything that made me pick this one over others, but I do miss the display. It comes with the hardwiring so that you can get monitoring while you're in parking mode, and a rear view camera. With no built in display, the only way you can view the footage or to get a live view, you have to connect the built in WIFI to your phone. The built in WIFI is a really useful feature, so that you can get any incidents that you want to save transfered to your phone immediately. I have another dash cam installed on my other car that doesn't have the WIFI, but has the built in display. So the only way I can save the dash cam footage, is by removing the memory card and putting it in your computer. If you're in an accident and need to share the footage right away, you can't until you get access to a computer. The video footage is very clear, but the rear camera doesn't have night view. So the only images you'll see at night with the rear camera are the car and street lights. It's also hard to mount the rear camera. They design it to be stuck to the rear glass, but I have window tint and don't want it stuck to the tint. For my pick up truck, I had to design a bracket that was stuck to the ceiling and behind the headliner. Installation is straight forward that took about 2 hours. I didn't want the wires showing, so I tucked them behind the headliner, behind the plastic panels, and behind weatherstrips. It says that the hardwiring should be done by a professional, but you can do it yourself if you have an electrical light tester. One wire goes to a constant powered fuse, the other goes to a fuse where the power shuts off when you turn off the car, and the other wire goes to a ground. Use the horn fuse for the constant, and the windshield wiper fuse for the non-constant. Review: Good budget dual dash cam - Pros: comes with memory card - easy to understand instructions - installation was easy aside from the two adhesives for the cameras. Not sure if I just got a weird batch, but peeling the nonstick cover off the adhesive was extremely difficult and I ended up needing to cut the nonstick cover to get it off - cable lengths are more than sufficient - the camera's audio cues are clear and a good volume - the app is intuitive - video playback and audio quality are good - camera's light sensitivity is quite adaptive, adjusting from extremely bright light to a dark garage within moments Cons: the videos I've downloaded so far are just okay. It's pretty difficult to make out individual license plates but you can always shout out the license plate for the audio to pick up - the camera takes a relatively long time to start up compared to other dash cams I've owned with a cigarette lighter charger. This is pretty minor but could potentially miss an accident (e.g. backing out of a parking space) if you don't wait until the camera announces video recording will now start - downloading videos from the app takes forever for just one clip - the camera will not auto connect to your phone without manually going through the pairing process each time you open the app Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase. It's more affordable than a lot of dash cams on the market and the ability to directly download clips to your phone is huge. You get a wide viewing angle from both cameras and the quality is decent.

A good solid dash cam
I was looking for a dash cam to protect me in case of an accident. I don't want any frills like red light camera detection, social sharing features, etc. The only thing I care about is a well-made camera that reliably captures video. For that task the Thinkware FA200 so far seems to perform well. INSTALLATION I installed the camera myself in my 2007 Honda Civic coupe. I'm not particularly handy, but it was generally straightforward. It took a few hours to get everything right but I'm mostly happy with the outcome. The package I purchased included: - front and rear cameras, each with a sticky windshield mount. - cigarette power adaptor / cable. - a cable to attach the rear camera to the front camera. - 3 small hooks to hold cables inside the cabin. To install the cameras you just need to press the camera mounts (3M sticky pads) on your windshield and run the cables through the cabin. It wasn't hard to tuck the cables underneath weatherstripping, mats, or fabric to hide them. The 3 hooks (which also attach via 3M sticky pads) really helped keep the cables out of the way, so you can run them along window edges and support pillars. The cameras are small and the cables are basically hidden, which is great. You really don't notice it much at all. My only complaint is that the cable that attaches the rear cam to the front cam was just a bit short. It definitely reaches between the cams, but in running the cable a certain way to hide it I needed more slack. I'd say it was 4-6 inches short of being perfect to tuck away completely. I needed to have the cable hang through the air a little in the rear area to reach. It doesn't actually obstruct my view, but the perfectionist in me was slightly annoyed. CAMERA PERFORMANCE After installation the camera has been working well. Whenever I turn the car ignition the camera starts automatically, speaks an audible alert like "continuous recording started", and captures video as you'd expect. There is one thing I don't like: it takes about 13-15 seconds for the camera to startup. That might not sound like a lot of time, but if you're like me and prefer to get moving right away, it's a long time to sit there in your car waiting. Especially if you're concerned about getting dinged by a careless driver as you're leaving a busy parking lot. VIDEO QUALITY The camera video quality seems adequate. It's not crystal clear and you won't be able to see every detail (eg: you can't necessarily read all license plates). But my main goal is to capture evidence to establish fault in case of an accident. I expect the video serves that purpose. If you want to see the video quality yourself, you can find examples on YouTube. APP INTERFACE I used the "Thinkware Cloud" app on my iPhone 8 running iOS 12. I didn't use the app very much, but it seems okay. It wasn't a great experience, but it does what you need. From the app you can control settings, see a live feed of both cameras, or download recorded videos. Connecting to the app via the camera's built-in WiFi was not reliable at all. Many times I would hear the affirmative "phone connected" audio alert from the camera, only to be alerted a few seconds later that my phone had disconnected. It was very frustrating. Luckily I read a tip elsewhere: turn on your phone's airplane mode, then connect to the camera's WiFi. That always worked for me. Downloading videos is not that convenient. There's no preview images, only timestamps, so you better know which video you want. It's much easier to just eject the memory card and browse it on your computer. That's not a deal breaker for me, as I hope to never actually need any of these videos. OVERALL For my purposes the Thinkware FA200 is a good product. It's unobtrusive in the car cabin and seems reliable. Ideally I never need any videos from the camera. But I expect that if there's an accident, a video will be captured and show what I need. Time will tell if the camera is well-made and holds up over the next few years. But for now it's increased my peace of mind when driving. I'd recommend it.

From a Garmin 45 to Thinkware front/rear dash cam.
I switched from a Garmin 45 to Thinkware FA200 dash cam. The Garmin only gave front 1080p recording with speed coordinates and also parking mode that recorded relentlessly; the park mode required a hard wire kit to purchase separately. I've been running dash cams ever since a police officer falsely gave me a ticket about four years ago... that was dropped in court; I found out through an officer friend that the police officer was fired for falsely writing tickets... I won't drive a vehicle without a dash cam anymore. Too many crazies in the world and illegals that perform a lot of hit and runs in my area. So why the "upgrade" to the FA200 Dash cam from the Garmin 45 dash cam? I wanted rear video recording too. Commuting to Orlando here in Florida gets crazy somedays... lots of people in stop and go traffic playing on their phones, crazies tailgating, road racers... crackheads... careless people running/backing into your parked car, people opening their door into into the side of your parked vehicle... people using your hood as a seat and scratching the life out of it because of metal rivets in their jeans... its endless. The Thinkware offers everything the Garmin did when you add the separate GPS module ( which I personally feel it should have been built in). I highly recommend the GPS module for location and speed. Last thing you need is an officer giving you a speeding ticket when you knowingly weren't speeding through a certain location. The front camera is 1080p and the rear is 720p. I also like that it has a motion sensor and impact sensor in park mode. Initially, I was intimidated by the installation of front/rear dash cams, but this probably took about 30-40 minutes to install... relatively a straight forward process once you've installed a few... I highly recommend the 128GB memory card since you are recording on two channels with this particular kit. All in, I spent about $261. The $261 is well worth the piece of mind. Don't forget to purchase some fuse taps (add a circuits). I installed this dash cam kit in a 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid... amazing car for the money I might add. For the value, and build quality, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this dual channel dash cam to protect yourself legally and your ride.

An easily installed dash cam that works flawlessly.
We have Thinkware dash cams installed in all our vehicles and have saved a ton of money in insurance claims as a result. All it takes is one accident that isn't your fault to pay for a dash cam -- insurance companies cannot argue with dash cam footage. We have F750s in two vehicles (Now the F800), and FA200s in two vehicles... all with rear cameras. Installation and configuration is a breeze if you do the following: A) Purchase the Thinkware OBDII installation cable from Amazon so you don't have to mess with the fuse box. And there is absolutely no guessing as to which fuses to use. B) Use your computer to configure the dash cam settings once you get it up and running. (More Below) C) DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE 2.5-3 STAR APP. All it does is make you waste gas as you struggle to connect to the Thinkware wifi, sign in, allow notifications.... etc... and then it doesn't work worth a flip. Additionally, it often cannot be used after an accident. (More Below) For B) above.... You might ask how you can use the computer to configure the dash cam when there are absolutely NO instructions how to. It's easy -- just unplug the dash cam to stop annoying 'please insert a memory card' messages, take the memory card out of the dash cam, put it in your computer, go to the 'set up' folder, click on the 'setup' file (has a picture of your dash cam as an icon), and go through the options for settings. My settings? a) I MUTE THE ANNOYING ANNOUNCEMENTS - go to settings, system, and set volume to 0. Again, no where is there documentation on 'mute' b) I turn off all 'safety' notifications. I don't need both my car and my camera to tell me I'm drifting out of my lane or in peril of rear-ending someone. My passengers will do that! c) I turn ON all battery saving features For C) above....So, now you might ask -- how do you watch your videos when you want? Easy -- on your PC... just plug in your memory card and go to the different folders to watch the videos you want (continuous, parking, event/accident, etc...) Ok, now you might ask, how do I get to my videos if I'm in an accident? Thinkware would encourage you to use their app which requires power (engine running) and you to connect to your dash cam. Unfortunately, if you're in an accident, you may not be able to keep your engine running.... Amazon to the rescue here too. I searched for about 10 seconds to find a micro sd/sd card reader for my iphone that does not require an app to use. I have one in every glove box.... And find I use them for more than my dash cam. Sorry for the long review....

Bought 3 of these for 3 different cars
We bought this dash cam bundle with the hardwire kit for 3 different cars. 2008 Hyundai Accent, 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, and 2015 Mazda3. We paid to have the dash cam professionally installed. The video quality is always so-so. At night, you cannot see license plates because it's too dark and it only gets lens flare around the headlights. During the day, you cannot see license plates because the picture is too bright and the pixels have been whited out. The always-on parking recording is useless because it is too sensitive, so even opening and shutting the door counts as an incident. You become numb to the dash cam announcing that there were "10 incidents" because you know a strong breeze probably caused it. Additionally, the dash cam does not have a proper battery low / shut off feature to protect your battery, so the dash cam fully drained and killed the battery in all three of the vehicles. We had to purchase a new battery for all 3 cars and ultimately we have to unplug the dash cam whenever we park, which completely defeats the purpose of that feature. The hardwire dash cam bundle does not come with a lighter plug, so you have to pay extra to purchase that separately if you have battery drain issues and need to switch over power source. Overall, the quality of this dash cam is not sufficient for the price and it's not properly designed to accommodate the features it offers. We are now looking for a new dash cam brand because the video quality and battery drain issues are a massive problem. We don't want to destroy the battery in our new 2021 Mazda CX-5 either! I don't recommend this dash cam brand due to these oversights, and it ultimately cost us a lot in damages too ($160 per battery, so around a $500 loss for us).

Easy to Use and Nice Video
I installed this and have been driving with it for about two months now. I didn't use the hardwire kit that was included, though. I instead ordered the EchoMaster OBD II Power Cable directly from the Thinkware website ($40). The OBD II cable is a much easier installation and only took a few seconds to get everything hooked up. The most time consuming part of installation was getting the cables hidden behind the door jams and A-pillar columns so as not to be hanging out all over the place. But once installed, it's basically set-it-and-forget-it. The OBD II cable automatically controls on/off and parking surveillance mode with no further input required. Also, I'm using a 128GB SD card, instead of the included 16GB card. (So, basically, the only thing I'm actually using from the bundle are the two cameras and the chords. I wasn't able to find the FA200 without the bundle, and the price point was reasonable enough that I didn't worry too much about it.) Connection to the camera wifi through my iPhone is straight forward and I haven't had any issues. I really only needed to connect to do the initial setup, and if I want to view the video feed or download a video. So far, I've only had one "idjut" almost hit me, so I've only downloaded the two (front and rear) videos for that minute, but download was hassle free. It does take a minute or so to download to the phone due to the file size. I'll note that you have to hit the wifi button on the camera if you want to connect, so thankfully your phone won't connect automatically every time you get in the car. Picture quality is relatively good. I did notice that sample video on youtube showed a sight "fish eye" quality, but it doesn't actually seem to do that on the downloaded videos. The downloaded videos look like a regular camera perspective, so I don't know what was up with the youtube videos. Video definition is pretty good. You can make out license plates and street signs, etc. *** UPDATE ***: After paying a bit more attention, there is a slight fish eye, especially around the edges. But it does not really effect the video in the way a normal "fish eye" camera would. My only downside is that the rear camera, though small, is fairly obvious from inside the vehicle. My rear view window has a bump for the high tail light, so I had to put the camera under the bump to be centered. The camera isn't exactly "stealthy," but it isn't overly obnoxious, either. (After I placed it, I realized I could have put the rear camera off to the side of the bump without really affecting the view, which would have placed the camera higher on the window. But, since I'd already installed it, I didn't want to pull off the adhesive and risk not being able to re-use it.) Overall, though, I'm quite happy with the FA200.

Too dang good, I bought two!
I was in the market for a dashcam after buying a new car, looked around for any great value/performance, and finally came to this Thinkware FA200 with a huge thanks to reddit. As this being one of the recommended dashcams, I decided to trust their reviews and Im glad I did. The quality of both the picture, and the device itself was great. The dashcam itself is sturdy, and high quality, and being in a cold state, I needed its built-in temperature protector to prevent it from not functioning when it goes below -15F. Though it has not reached that yet, im confident it will hold up. Second, the installation was easy, ONLY because I decided to buy an OBD adapter instead of hardwiring or using the 12v power socket. With that, It made life easier as it allowed me to finish installing it under 20 minutes. I recommend going this route if youre not confident with hardwiring, or do not like having it plugged into your 12v outlet. The OBD adapter will also allow the dashcam to work while your engine is off, so If anything happens while youre out, you will know when, who, or what did it! After installation, I was like "what the heck, I need to protect my other car too!" and that's what I did, I bought a second one for my other car and installed it in less than 15min! If you need assurance and insurance, don't hesitate to buy this! Protect yourself from anything, and anyone!

great camera low profile easy to install
not blocking your view as other dashcam is big and annoying. good video quality low profile blends to the windshield and is easy to install. 100% worth the money especially when it's on sale! I don't know why some features are not available when it's not hardwired to the car like the parking sensor and other important features of a dashcam hopefully someday they can do this as plug and play not all customers know how to hardwire or spend more $$ to professionally hardwire the dashcam

I won't buy any other brand !!!
What can I say? I love THINKWARE. I have bought quite a few cameras. As a matter of fact, I bought all my dash cameras from THINKWARE, all dual channel. 6 cameras in all. One for my wife car, F750, the first one I bought. Love the features HD quality is amazing, Parking mode works great and does not drain the battery, as well they always tell me when I come to a red light camera. 2 x F800 PRO's 1 for each of my Jeep Cherokee's, again, can not compare the quality works amazing and got the best bang for my dollar.... Then I got 2 x FA200's one for my daughters car and one for her boyfriends car, both with dual channel as well. Last but not least, another FA200 for my brothers girlfriend's Jeep, that I just got last week and going to install it myself next week. They are easy to install and you can get fuse adapters so you are not trying to squeeze in wires or risk blowing a fuse. The video/audio clarity is amazing and clear. App Works perfect with my IOS 10X MAX. Never had a problem with any of these cameras and I recommend them to everyone. Totally happy with the performance and quality of THINKWARE. Thanks for making me feel safer knowing I can rely on always capturing anything that happens, on the road, and while parked. More pictures of proof if needed, this shows I do have many and I am very happy with them. You will be as well.

Fantastic Camera
I love this camera so much so I have installed it in 5 vehicles now. Pros: - it just works. Some of the cheaper cameras I have tried are finicky but this works as advertised. - Really good sound quality. needed to use the footage when someone rear ended me in a parking lot. the audio of the other party stating "That was 100% my fault I am so sorry!" helped tons when they told a different story to the police. - App works great. I love being able to quickly get the videos off my camera gives me some piece of mind that I do not need to wait to get to a computer to make sure the video is safe. - Support. One camera arrived DOE I had purchased it in May as a Christmas present for someone. when I realized it was broken (way out of the Amazon return window) I emailed the company. No questions asked they sent me a replacement in the mail with a prepaid shipping label for the damaged product. My issue was resolved within two days of submitting my support request. Cons: - Resolution. Personally 1080p is fine for me and I think it has enough detail for it purpose, proving who was at fault in an accident. also storing 1080p is way easier then dealing with 4K but some people will see this as a con. - App speed. Transferring your videos from the camera to your phone through the app is slow but not a deal breaker.
