desertcart.com: The Zoology Coloring Book: 9780064603010: Elson, Lawrence M.: Books Review: Great for kids who finish early in Zoology class - I teach a Zoology class. I use this coloring book as extra credit for students who finish early. I have them color the pages relevant to the current topic. They enjoy coloring and I enjoy that it is on topic so it reinforces what we are learning in the classroom. The pictures are great and wonderful to prepare for dissections and to review several of the topics we cover in class. I have the biology one also and I highly recommend both of them. Review: Wonderful! - My sensitive child was dreading the entire year of 7th grade because of the dissection that was planned. I understand that some kids can do dissection with no ill effects, but it was a real stress point for my animal-loving daughter. Her science teacher was wonderful enough to approve this workbook for her. It is not a "child-like" coloring book, but is very informative and instructional. She will learn all about the frog without the horror of the formaldehyde and scalpels. I recommend this workbook and hope your science teacher is willing to work with you. No cows eyes for us!! Thank you Mr. Elson! Check the PETA website for more information on why dissection will turn your kid off to science, it might help sway a difficult teacher or principle.

Great for teaching zoology
I teach high school zoology. I use this book ALL THE TIME for this course. It really helps the kids learn the parts of the animals and gets them to focus for a little bit on the structures and the organism. I scanned the book into the computer so I have a PDF version of it and now I can take snippets from the book and put them on the kids' tests, so they see the same diagram throughout the lesson and don't have a completely different diagram that they have to "relearn" on the test. Highly recommend this book. It would also probably be appropriate to help someone taking an undergraduate course in invertebrate or vertebrate zoology as well.

Zoology Coloring Book
While these books may appear as simple children's activities, they are instead detailed and complete guides to college level work and textbooks, giving a new initiative to learning material. The color, details, and careful explanations included within these books complement work done in the classroom and in the field. Before paying out large sums for study guides, outside tutoring or online help, try this book. I even utilized the detailed pictures in dissection labs to more easily find my targets.

Good foundation
Bought this to teach my zoology class which is a great tool. Was expecting it to have everything zoology so a little disappointed it don’t but still a great reinforcement for content nonetheless.

Great for visual/physical learners
This is a great way to nail down important studying. The hands on and visual activities make it much easier and interesting for kin/vis learners. Very in depth. It will keep you busy for a long time.

AMAZING SOURCE!!
I am in college and have found this book AMAZING! I am taking both Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, and it has helped out with both classes. My only regret is that I did not find this sooner! Some reviews were talking about the book being too much for their children they home school, and I can definitely see that. I usually never leave comments, but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Well worth the money spent!

Missing pages
Loved the book except it goes from words on 64, to the picture of 80... that’s 16 coloring sheets I am missing. I did get the book for cheap so that’s a plus, but it’s not even like the pages were ripped out. They just weren’t there, like they were never printed . I really only needed 1 page that I didn’t have but still sucks to not have the pages.

Like the others in the series, The Zoology Coloring Book is a beautifully drawn and compiled survey of the animal kingdom. It is an essential supplement to a course that I wrote and teach in invertebrate zoology in Red Deer, Alberta Canada. The students who enroll in this course (Slugs and Bugs) find the book an invaluable learning resource.

I bought this as a gift for my daughter who is studying zoology at university. She loved it, and has found it very useful for her course. She was using it in one of her labs the other day and the tutor was so impressed with it that he is looking into using it as a core text in the future. Praise indeed!
