Works great. Allows me to connect second computer to quality monitor.
Works great. It was a little more expensive than I anticipated, but it allowed me to connect two computers to a higher quality monitor (one with HDMI and one with DVI). I switch between them using the change inputs buttons on the monitor.

This lets you connect an old DVI plug signal to a new DisplayPort monitor or KVM
I often have trouble connecting old signal sources like VGA or in this case DVI to new monitors that do not have this plug this adapter will let you use a modern monitor with old computer devices. I used this thing 2K and 60 HZ refresh on a DisplayPort monitor from a DVId signal source and it works on a 4K compatible DisplayPort KVM I'm very happy.

Works great for GPU with DVI connecting to monitor with DisplayPort
Like the title states, I'm connecting a monitor with DisplayPort to an older graphics card (GTX 970) that has DVI. I have three displays (24", 1080p, all have DP and HDMI, no DVI) all connected to the 970 that has 1x DP, 1x HDMI, and 1x DVI. Primary display is connected to DP, since it's G-Sync & 144 Hz. Second display is connected via HDMI (60 Hz, non-G-Sync display). Third display is using this adapter to connect to the remaining DVI port on the computer. Working well at 1080p/60Hz, which is the stated max spec (bought this knowing that, no surprises here). Unfortunately, since this is an active adapter, it uses up a USB port. Does come with a USB extension cable, very useful, but not needed for my setup. Overall, works well for what I needed, lots of adapters out there that are passive and work the other way around (connecting a DVI monitor to a DP GPU). Be sure to verify which way your data flow is going and get the right adapter!

Better than nothing
I'm using this to adapt an older mac pro that doesn't output audio through the minidisplayport. So I plugged this into the DVI port via a DVI cable and split the line-out audio into RCA outputs for the converter, then ran an HDMI cable from the converter to the TV. The only problem with it is that sometimes it just doesn't seem to recognize when the computer is waking up from sleep. It's pretty annoying to have to unplug, then plug it back in. Also, when it's on for an extended period of time, sometimes the audio doesn't go through and it has to be unplugged from the wall again.

Useful for making oid computers work with new displays
I got this to connect my 2006 Mac Mini to a DisplayPort KVM; the Mini has built-in DVI. This unit seamlessly converts the signal and outputs it over a standard DisplayPort cable to either a monitor, or to the KVM. It's powered by USB, so make sure you have a USB port on your computer you can devote to that. For me, this solved the problem nicely and works great.

It Works
It works but for any gaming I see a big drop off using this.

Works well
I have been using this for 3 days now and it works as promised. It comes with an USB extension cable for the power which helped with my layout of USB's. The only issue is when the PC goes to sleep, the monitor has to be powered off and on again and then the screen comes back. Other than that, there is no unplugging of power or display cords. An update. Now I rate this as 5 stars. Did some research and updated my display drivers. The monitor does not need to be powered off/on. The screen wakes up just fine. This does the job when you have 2 monitors with DP ports only and the video card has DP, DVI and HDMI.

Simply doesn't work, at least for analog audio
Don't waste your money gambling on this device working for you. I have tried this device with multiple systems (older Macs and older PCs), and it hasn't worked for ANY of them. I've even tried a second unit, and it had the exact same problem. Video works, but the (analog) audio does not get embedded. I get no audio from the HDMI monitor, I get no audio from the line/headphone out jack on the monitor, and I get no audio if I use an HDMI audio extractor before the monitor. However, if I switch to a DVI to SVGA adapter and a cheap SVGA+audio to HDMI adapter, I get both video and audio (with all of the previously mentioned output options)! Clearly the issue is with this component. Since it works for some people, maybe it only works with DVI-A output and fails to embed audio with DVI-D output, or vice versa. The video quality is much better when going from DVI to HDMI directly, so I would really like to find a DVI+audio to HDMI solution that works, but this is not it.

As part of a convoluted multi-PC, multi-monitor setup for my wife, this cable helped me hook up her GeForce 760 to a DisplayPort monitor.
