If I was going to use this to play a 'how to learn piano' book, does the 49 key model have enough keys to do this? Where is middle 'C' on it?

Hello, M-Audio support here! Keystation 49 MK3 is not intended to be used as a digital piano. This is a USB MIDI controller that can be configured with virtually any DAW that supports MIDI and VST instruments. In addition, it comes with ProTools First, Ableton Live Lite, Eleven Lite, Velvet, Hybrid 3, Loom, Vacuum Pro, Eighty-Eight Ensemble, XPand!2 which makes it a powerful tool to create, record or just having fun playing music. Although it has Octave +/- button to shift up or down octaves and ability to plug a Sustain pedal, to play piano compositions most of the time you will need 88 keys keyboard.
